About us
The Oregon Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (OCCAP) is an individual membership registered non-profit organization with approximately 150 members across the state. OCCAP is a state branch of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), and membership is required in both organizations. OCCAP works closely with the Oregon Psychiatric Physician’s Association (OPPA), and with other state and national organizations to help further the cause of mental well-being for Oregon children and families. OCCAP strives to create an inclusive and equitable environment where all voices are heard and respected. Our membership is comprised of psychiatric physicians from diverse settings, reflecting a range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. As professionals who serve some of the most vulnerable members of our state, we are committed to improving mental health care for minority populations and fostering equity in mental health treatment. Our work environment includes:
- On-Site in Oregon one weekend per year for our annual conference
- One 2 hour monthly Executive Committee meeting (virtual)
- Flexible working hours
- 10-40 hours per month billable hours (higher during event months)
- Work-from-home days
Scope of Services
OCCAP seeks the administrative services of a contractor to serve as its Executive Director (herein referred to as Director) to manage the organization, reporting to the OCCAP Executive Council (EC). The Director will be responsible for services including, but not limited to:
Financial Management
- Maintain all financial records using standard accounting software.
- Assist in budget development and sustainability planning.
- Prepare the annual draft budget in collaboration with the Treasurer for annual IRS filing.
- Develop plans for conservation and investment of endowments.
- Manage banking needs, including deposits and accounts payable.
Meeting Planning
- Coordinate with the Program Chair to make all necessary arrangements for one Continuing Medical Education (CME) event annually, typically in April.
- Participate in planning and developing of member subcommittee meetings, learning opportunities, and social events.
- Assist the Executive Committee in coordinating monthly EC meetings.
Membership and Communication
- Recruit new child and adolescent psychiatrist and affiliate members to our organization.
- Act as the primary point of contact for members.
- Act as the primary liaison with AACAP (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry).
- Administrate email, listservs, surveys, and update website
General Administration Services
- Maintain a mailing address (PO box) for OCCAP and check mail regularly.
- Work with APA and OPPA (American Psychiatry Association and Oregon Psychiatric Physician Association, respectively) and other specialty medicine associations on collaborative legislative efforts or special projects.
- Coordinate communication between OCCAP and other relevant organizations, including children’s mental health workgroups, state government departments, mental health advocacy organizations, etc.
- File government (state) corporate reports annually and maintain association records.
Compensation
Hourly compensation starting at $30/hour, ranging from approximately 4 to 40 hours a month. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience and skills. Our annual conference is typically held in or around April, so the months leading up to and including the month of the conference tend to be closer to the higher end of the time range. The Director position is an independent contractor position (1099 category), with no health or retirement benefits. The Director will submit monthly detailed invoices to the EC President and Treasurer on the 1st of the month and will receive payment by the 15th of the month.
