Job Description
We are a prestigious liberal arts college dedicated to fostering excellence in teaching and creating an enriching academic environment for both students and faculty. Founded in 1881, our institution is located in the vibrant city of Atlanta, GA. Position Description
We are excited to invite passionate teacher-scholars to join our team as online instructors for the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program. In collaboration with the Center for Black Entrepreneurship, we offer this program to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship. Adjunct positions are available throughout the year.
As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our eSpelman Online Certificate programs. Working under the guidance of the eSpelman Online Program Director, you will leverage your industry expertise and best practices to uphold the mission and vision of our programs. Your responsibilities will include teaching courses in the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, advising adult students, contributing to course assessment and quality improvement, and potentially designing courses tailored for minority entrepreneurs and women.

Our online certificate programs embrace students of all genders and backgrounds, extending the transformative power of Spelman College as the leading HBCU beyond the confines of our campus.
Specific Courses To Be Taught
Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Strategies for Start-up and Entrepreneurial Growth
Branding and Marketing for Entrepreneurs
Finance for Entrepreneurs
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Adapt teaching, advising, and coaching methodologies to engage and support working adult learners effectively.
Deliver courses in your assigned discipline, ensuring clear and effective communication of subject matter.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to assist students in achieving course objectives and learning outcomes.
Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
Foster a supportive online learning community and encourage collaboration among students.
Contribute to course reviews, student learning outcomes assessment, and program evaluation.
Demonstrate commitment to professional development, such as participating in conferences, workshops, research projects, and publishing scholarly works.
Attend eSpelman hosted meetings, orientations, training sessions, and stay actively involved in the Spelman community.
Fulfill record-keeping obligations promptly, including grades, attendance, and reports, following eSpelman policies.
Perform other duties as outlined in the teaching agreement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Hold a minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate discipline, such as business, management, or economics.
Demonstrate strong business acumen, planning skills, innovation, creativity, and collaboration.
Proficiency in utilizing business applications and analysis tools on computers.
Possess knowledge of the role of business in today's society, current organizational structures, management philosophies and processes, as well as emerging business trends.
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a higher education setting.
Proficient in using educational technologies such as Canvas, video conferencing, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4) years of work experience in business ownership/management positions, including progressively increasing levels of responsibility, or a strong record of service achievements.
Previous experience leading or supporting an entrepreneurship center, advising and/or mentoring entrepreneurs, and building business partnerships.
Possession of a professional certification or license related to the teaching discipline.
Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of historically underrepresented groups.
