Job Description
What to Expect

Environmental Technicians are a critical part of the EHS Team at Tesla. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Manager at Giga Texas, the Air Quality Environmental Technician will support Tesla’s Air Quality Management Program by helping Giga Texas maintain its air emissions source inventory and emission source labeling programs current, complete source testing, take measurements and environmental samples, evaluate visible emissions from stationary sources, and drive continuous improvement of overall EHS processes and systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate emission source testing conducted by third parties
  • Conduct leak detection and repair monitoring using portable flame ionization detector (FID)
  • Drive continuous improvement of overall EHS processes and systems
  • Collect and record information on emissions sources and stacks and maintain Giga Texas’ air emissions inventory and source map current
  • Take measurements and readings and collect environmental samples
  • Calibrate, maintain, and maintain portable FID
  • Assist design teams with locating and installing emission source testing ports on stacks
  • Coordinate Giga Texas’ emission source labeling program
  • Evaluate visible emissions from stationary sources
What You’ll Bring
  • Evidence of exceptional ability: Clear communication, teamwork, problem solving skills, and ability to adapt quickly to changes
  • High school diploma or GED Associates Degree or higher-level education preferred
  • Ability to work independently (take direction and carry out tasks with minimal supervision)
  • Visible emission evaluator certification or demonstrated ability to be able to obtain certification
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Basic mechanical and electronics electronic aptitude
  • Work comfortably at heights
  • Experience within an industrial setting and basic understanding of general manufacturing safety
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • A clean driving record
  • Experience with continuous emissions monitoring equipment preferred
  • Well organized, excellent attention to details and a passion for all things Environment, Health, and Safety
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs. daily
  • Minimum 3 years or more of work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
