Job Description

Our Dallas, TX office has an opening for an Industrial Instrument Technician to join our team!
TAI Instrument technicians are responsible for providing industrial clients with Installation, Calibration, Loop Commissioning, Start-Up, Preventative Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair of complex instrumentation systems. Technicians will be working in manufacturing environments and must understand the critical aspects of keeping a manufacturing plant operating safely, precisely and efficiently. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Traces out and tests electronic solid state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Maintain good working condition of calibration standards
  • Recommend upgrades or best installation practices to existing instrumentation and controls systems were applicable.
  • PLC/HMI Troubleshooting, minor programming, installation of instrumentation and controls, and calibration.
  • Create and/or follow Monthly Calibration Schedules and coordinate scheduling with equipment owners.
  • Performs calibration of instrumentation necessary for maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Assists in qualification of equipment / facilities as needed.
  • Create calibration procedures
  • Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control generating operations in manufacturing or industrial plant: Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
  • Provide technical support for calibration processes and procedures
  • Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters.
  • Complete calibration and service work in accordance with in-house procedures or site procedures
  • Complete ICRS/Calibration Certificates and/or approving Certificates.

Technical Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years experience working as an Instrument Tech within related industry
  • Experienced with creating and implementing Monthly Calibration Schedule.
  • Ability to adhere to client and company directions, policies and standards.
  • Support customer base primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area, with occasional overnight travel to surrounding areas.
  • Knowledge of performing calibrations of instruments, including but not limited to: flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or certification from trade school is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of servicing and installing I&C equipment within manufacturing or industrial site
  • Ability to provide superior customer service
  • Knowledge of performing measurements for: analytical, pressure, volumetric flow, mass flow, ultrasonic flow, level, temperature, local controllers, LEL.
  • ISA CCST certification is preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about client’s facilities and offices to access equipment and complete tasks.
  • Consistently ascend and descend portable and fixed ladders, scaffolding and other equipment used to reach equipment at various levels of height some of which maybe in excess of 25 feet in a safe manner.
  • Frequently move tools and equipment weighing up to 50lbs across client facilities as needed to complete tasks.
  • Occasionally lift and move equipment in excess of 100lbs in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend a large quantity of stairways at any given time.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions as needed.
  • Consistently operate instrumentation standards, computers, calculator, copy machine, printer and other devices to efficiently complete tasks.
