Position Overview
As an Editing and Publishing Instructor, you'll be an integral part of our esteemed Writers' Program. Our program covers various disciplines, including Fiction and Nonfiction Writing, Poetry, Screenwriting, and of course, Editing & Publishing. Our courses are taught by highly qualified practitioners who are passionate about imparting their knowledge.
Responsibilities
Develop engaging course syllabi in collaboration with the Program Director and Program Manager.
Share your subject-matter expertise and leverage additional resources to enhance the curriculum.
Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and foster student learning.
Implement inclusive teaching strategies that cater to learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experience levels.
Regularly update course materials based on feedback and industry trends.
Utilize modern technology, including the Canvas learning management system, to support and enhance the learning experience.
Foster timely communication with students, Program Directors, and Program Staff.
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Participate in program activities, such as guest lecturing and community events.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as an editor, copyeditor, developmental editor, or publishing professional.
Commitment to maintaining the highest academic standards and integrity.
Demonstrated proficiency in the subject area with current industry knowledge.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
Proficiency in instructional technology and willingness to adapt to online teaching tools.
College-level And/or Continuing Education Teaching Experience (preferred).
Experience in curriculum design and student performance assessment (preferred).
