About The Position
The Milken Institute seeks a Senior Associate for the Marketing and Communications Department’s Publishing and Content team. This position reports to and works closely with the Director of Publishing and Content to publish the thought leadership, research, and collateral materials developed by the executives leading the Institute’s multiple centers and departments. This content includes more than 100 publications a year, such as white papers, policy viewpoints, research reports, op-eds, collateral, and meeting materials.
The Senior Associate will work with dozens of leaders across the Institute on subjects spanning health, finance, and philanthropy to manage the entire publications process. They will be responsible for planning and editing publications, working with a pool of freelance editors to manage operations and workflow, and coordinating with colleagues in the integrated Marketing and Communications Department—in design, media relations, website, and social media—to prepare the materials for promotion.
The ideal candidate will have a background in communications with experience working in government, academia, nonprofit, journalism, marketing, or a public relations agency . The individual should have a track record of successfully managing complex projects. The person must be a team player, take initiative, and run projects from start to finish independently. Excellent writing and communications skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines are critical for success in this position.
Responsibilities
  • Liaise with freelance editors and proofreaders as needed
  • Offer constructive feedback on publication drafts to ensure content targets appropriate audiences and inspires the desired impact
  • Collaborate across the Marketing and Communications Department on publication releases and maintain an updated calendar for the promotion of publications
  • Serve as an internal resource for Institute style guide, including editing citations
  • Work with Institute executives to create and adhere to publication timelines that span several months
  • Manage multiple projects at a time and keep all stakeholders apprised of progress
Qualifications
  • Interest in Milken Institute program areas, including health, finance, and philanthropy
  • Ability to work with principal stakeholders, including researchers and authors
  • Experience in project management, strategic problem-solving, editing, and attention to detail (proficiency in Chicago Manual of Style a plus)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in communications or marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Communications background in business, government, academia, nonprofit, journalism, marketing, or a public relations agency, working across multiple clients
  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, or a related field preferred
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
This position will work in a professional office environment. This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours.

This position will be working a hybrid model, where you will be expected to report to your respective office location 3-days per week (Tuesday - Thursday), this is subject to change.
