POSITION PURPOSE:

The Director of Technology is responsible for the overall design and management of the school’s information systems and communications infrastructure, school-wide hardware and software applications, integration of technology into the academic environment, and technical support for faculty, staff, and students. The Director uses their knowledge of information systems and problem-solving to help design and implement projects that support and further the school’s use of technology for teaching and learning and to promote the utilization of technology throughout the school. The Director will oversee and manage the staff in the technology department. In addition, the Director will work with faculty and staff to identify and implement the overarching system design and infrastructure that will best serve the needs of the school.
The essential functions of the position include:
- Identifying professional development opportunities for faculty and staff that support the technological efforts of the school.
- Directly overseeing the management, maintenance, and support of the technological infrastructure.
- Designing and implementing training and service protocols that serve to meet the needs of the users on the campus.
- Assuring the security and validity of school information through the development of security procedures and tools.
- Collaborating with Department Chairs, faculty, and staff to identify current and future needs and opportunities in technology integration and support. Once identified, the Director is responsible for developing a plan to address those needs and opportunities that utilizes the skills of the full technology team.
- Research current trends in education and work with the technology committee members to identify the current technological opportunities that might have appropriate and effective uses in the Cate classroom.
- Directly overseeing all user support efforts, both on a day-to-day basis, and in the context of larger educational technology initiatives.
- Overseeing and evaluating the ongoing support of technology used in educational program development by partnering with academic departments, faculty, and staff.
- Managing technical budgets, allocate resources, and build appropriate project schedules.
In terms of education and experience, applicants for this position will have:
- Experience a similar role or, if a mid-career change, comparable work experience where these skills are demonstrated
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and growth
- Demonstrated facility with or ability to innovate alongside evolving technologies demonstrated commitment to / love for working with teenagers as role models, mentors, advisor
- Minimally a BS in a quantitative field
