Director of Software Engineering
Crosslake Technologies is a leading provider of advisory services that the world’s fastest growing technology companies and their investors rely on for critical technology investment decisions.
Overview

We are looking for a hands-on leader who is passionate about people and technology and who has a proven record of scaling engineering teams and systems. As the Director of Software Engineering, you will help build and oversee our engineering talent and technical strategy for the proprietary, web-based software platforms that power our business.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the planning, development, and oversight of Corsis, our proprietary assessment, benchmarking, reporting, and data analytics platform. The Corsis platform is an essential tool used by both Crosslake practitioners and our clients to evaluate and ‘score’ technology best practices, perform comparative analyses, and provide insights that drive improvement and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Strategy/Planning
  • Own the quality, scalability, security, availability and performance of our software platforms.
  • Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and maintaining of our proprietary platforms.
  • Oversee the development and adoption of architectural and security standards and governance.
  • Set standards for code development and quality control. Implement review and testing procedures.

Operations
  • Provide and evaluate technical solutions to ensure appropriateness and consistency to architecture needs
  • Implement coding standards, review code submissions and ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Manage the allocation and assignment of engineering tasks to team.
  • Review and help define product requirements and participate in product planning sessions.
  • Oversee and contribute to our cloud-hosted infrastructure and related CI/CD processes.
  • Help improve team processes where appropriate. Ensure that key processes are adequately documented.
  • Ensure successful and on-time delivery of each sprint iteration and/or product release.
  • Develop and oversee processes for scoping work and providing time, cost, and progress reporting.
Team Management
  • Manage hiring, training, and performance evaluations of software engineering team.
  • Provide employee coaching, mentoring, development, and team building.
  • Provide leadership, management, and technical vision to the entire engineering team.
Qualifications
  • Experience with modern front-end JavaScript-based frameworks, React preferred
  • Experience establishing and managing both onshore and offshore teams preferred.
  • Experience with applications deployed in cloud infrastructures (AWS in particular) using Continuous Integration
  • 2+ years’ experience leading a ‘full stack’ team of engineers at Manager or Director level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or relevant experience
  • Experience building applications that use REST and (ideally) GraphQL services
  • Experience with database technologies. Experience with cache-based db systems (e.g., Redis) a plus.
  • 5-10 years’ experience architecting, delivering, and supporting web-based applications.
  • 5+ years' experience with Ruby and the RoR (Ruby on Rails) framework
