Our Technology Team is developing a novel cultivation system to grow microalgae faster, cheaper, and on a larger scale than has ever been achieved before. This system will be able to capture more CO2 and produce more biomass per land area than any other agricultural system in the world.

Our approach is to increase the solar efficiency of outdoor algae cultures by manipulating and distributing sunlight more effectively. By combining a keen understanding of biology with our patented technology, the Recambrian system will approach the theoretical limits of biological photosynthesis. After scaling to commercial production, this advancement will enable us to enter markets that scientists have been dreaming about for decades: animal feeds, alternative fertilizers, bioplastics, and petrochemicals.

Role Summary

The Director of Engineering will work directly with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Science Officer to ensure all technology development projects are implemented in-line with the strategies, roadmaps, budgets, and timelines set by the executive team. They will be a leader in technical expertise while ensuring all technology-related projects are executed and delivered within scope. This will require both project management and hands-on engineering work to create research, experimentation, and processes for technology development.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team; set technical standards; foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Project Execution Collaborate with the Product Team to establish smooth integration of project requirements; oversee the execution and delivery of engineering tasks; ensure projects are completed within scope; manage project risks and mitigation strategies.

Technical Expertise Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies relevant to the company's products and engineering processes; lead technical design reviews and provide technical guidance to resolve complex engineering challenges; act as a subject matter expert and provide insights on emerging technologies and their potential applications.

Process Improvement Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and workflows for increased efficiency, quality, and productivity; implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to optimize development processes; identify bottlenecks or areas of improvement and propose solutions for process optimization.

As our population grows to 9B people over the next 30 years, the world will need to produce 40-70% more food. To achieve this without destroying our environment, the agriculture, food, and feed industries need some big changes.

At Recambrian, we are approaching this issue from two perspectives.

1. Microalgae is an extremely underutilized resource for creating proteins and fats. So, the faster the industry grows, the faster we reduce stress on current food production methods.
2. Fish require less food than cows, pigs, or chickens. So, growing the aquaculture industry is extremely important for efficient use of resources.
