Role Description
As the Director of Engineering within AMP, you’ll be working directly with executive leadership to explore productivity tools that could grow into the next line of business for Dropbox. You will be responsible for people management, technical direction, and driving major strategic and product initiatives. You will have significant strategic impact and influence the direction of the company, as well as direct responsibility for new products. You will do this together with an amazing team of talented, passionate engineers and engineering managers including cross functional leaders. AMP products are key initiatives in the Office of the CEO and you will be responsible for working with the GM to define and execute on the strategy for making both of these products adopted by millions of users.
You will drive the engineering team to adopt and improve on the best from industry leading tools while also leveraging Dropbox’s core engineering capabilities. You will be responsible for balancing business delivery with engineering quality, building plans with strong business acumen and being data and metrics oriented. You should be comfortable in a scrappy environment with small autonomous pods iterating rapidly on product prototypes. You need to be continuously focused on the needs of the customer and always looking for feedback. You also need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats, willing and able to jump into product, design, or user research responsibilities when needed. Ideally, you are at your best when you are in fast-paced and startup-like teams, shipping customer-facing products and having a deep curiosity which leads you to build side projects of your own. Responsibilities
You will lead the team in balancing urgency vs. the incredibly high quality bar expected by both our customers and the broader Dropbox organization, through clear and repeatable engineering processes
You will partner closely with Dropbox leadership across all functions, including GTM and Support
You will work closely with the GM of AMP and other engineering leaders across the company to set technical strategy and direction
You will create a culture of strong technical ownership, resulting in highly reliable products and services at scale
You'll foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Dropbox's values and continue to develop Dropbox as one of the best places to work
Requirements
12+ years of engineering experience in a medium or larger software company including 6+ years managing high performance teams
Demonstrated ability to hire and grow senior leaders and managers
Strong technical craft mastery and engineering discipline
Deep organization capabilities, especially in influence, collaboration and communication
BS degree in a technical or design related discipline (CS preferred)
Growth or business experience and focus is a plus
Large scale SaaS cloud application design and management is a plus

For candidates hired in San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $263,500 - $310,000 - $356,500.
For candidates hired in the following locations: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington (outside Seattle metro) and Washington DC metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $237,200 - $279,000 - $320,900.
For candidates hired in all other US locations, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for this role is currently $210,800 - $248,000 - $285,200.
Range(s) is subject to change. Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
