The Director of Sales is responsible to generally manage all facets of new business efforts within assigned territory for the Specialty Staffing Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This position will identify new opportunities, consult with hospital to identify needs and outcomes, qualify such opportunities, and successfully close and generate new long-term / outsourced perfusion services business. Additionally, this position will provide support of new long-term / outsourced perfusion to include, recruitment, clinical and administrative management, and guidance for all long-term perfusion related services as needed to support the overall Specialty team. Management and oversight of each account during sales cycle includes accessibility and accountability and authority for maintaining happy customers and a quality program customary to Specialty Staffing policies. The Director of Sales acts as a liaison between the client or prospective hospital, the other directors, and Specialty Staffing teammates and clinical staff as needed during the initial implementation of the services and should possess current knowledge of requirements, clinical activity and practices, decision makers and other information of any given account to facilitate a supportive and successful implementation.
A comprehensive understanding of the philosophies and goals of the Specialty Staffing SBU are fundamental for suitable implementation and success. Business development, sales cycle management and an ability to effectively identify, analyze and establish a consultative approach to the various issues, customer goals and the operational and clinical details required to provide and solve and achieve all of these for customers are critical. Clinical skills as a perfusionist are important but recognizing and utilizing the full potential of the Specialty Staffing SBU’s clinical staff and contractors and an enthusiastic approach to ensuring their success is critical for this role.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Generation of general reports regarding sales pipelines, financial goals and targets, recruitment
  • Oversees and schedules regular communications with potential hospital partners and supplies consistent insight, reports, metrics and related information on the sales pipelines, revenue outlook and happenings within assigned territory with Specialty Staffing management.
  • Remains current on present ECLS and perfusion clinical happenings, trends, technology, procedures, techniques, and literature.
  • Supports Specialty Staffing administration with any administrative tasks, reporting, invoicing, billing, etc. to support all operations and provides insight for consistent improvement and feedback on the same.
  • Generally, evaluates needs of territory and plans in advance initiatives to accomplish short and long-term goals of assigned territory.
  • Acts as liaison between Specialty Staffing, the client hospital staff, and the Specialty Staffing team responsible for the implementation and ongoing service of a client hospital.
  • Maintains hospital client contacts lists, networks and active conversations throughout the perfusion industry, both in person and remote, to place the Specialty Staffing SBU in a position to participate in all desired business and opportunities.
  • Always maintains a professional demeanor while re-enforcing the integrity of Specialty Staffing SBU.
  • Coordinate and assists in the launch of new accounts within their territory providing any necessary support of the director teams responsible for ongoing clinical operations.
  • Maintains industry expertise regarding trends, competitive landscapes, relationships, manufacturers, and other industry influences and shares as needed within the Specialty Staffing SBU.
  • Assists in the recruitment and evaluation of potential new employees and contractors for placement in their territory or accounts and coordinates with Specialty Staffing recruitment teams and committees as needed.
  • Solicits, recruits, and evaluates potential new business focused on the long-term / outsourced staffing of hospital perfusion departments and related operations.
  • Provides referrals and other pertinent information to other Specialty Staffing peers regarding PRN sales, expansion of existing business, merger and acquisition or other related opportunities of possible interest.
  • Identification and follow-up of potential new business and the successful pricing, negotiation of terms, negotiation of contracts and closing of accounts determined to be advantageous to the Specialty Staffing SBU.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of the any position when working as a Clinical Perfusionist and/or performing ECLS/ECMO services include, but are not limited to, the safe performance, teaching, and management of any or all of the following:
  • Hemoconcentration.
  • Documentation including electronic charting when applicable.
  • Induction of hypothermia/hyperthermia.
  • Administration of pharmacological agents under a physician’s guidance.
  • Hematological analysis.
  • Backup other CCP staff or contractors in the performance of the above when necessary.
  • Infuses blood products, fluids, and/or medications per ECMO protocol.
  • Counterpulsation / Intra-aortic Balloon Pump.
  • Anticoagulation monitoring.
  • In collaboration with the ECMO physician, evaluates chest x-rays for endotracheal tube placement, cannula position, and status of the lung fields in determining patient status and weaning guidelines; supports and maintains patency of the cannula while patient is undergoing ECMO.
  • Utilizes appropriate values to assess clotting status; adjusts required infusions per ECMO industry or PDC protocols.
  • Ventricular assist devices.
  • Assesses the cardiovascular (hemodynamic) status of the patient through test results (e.g., ABG’s, CBC, etc.) and physical assessment findings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and support adoption of PDC’s OnCloud platform.
  • Cardiopulmonary Bypass / Extracorporeal circulation.
  • Autotransfusion / Blood conservation.
  • Myocardial preservation / delivery of cardioplegia solution.
  • Monitors and adjusts ECMO circuit settings, (e.g. heat exchanger temperature, pump flow, sweep gas) to maintain parameters established by the ECMO physician.
  • Monitors and manages fluids according to ECMO protocol and maintains accurate intake and output records to ensure appropriate fluid levels.
  • Perform duties under job description EM06 – Clinical Perfusionist as required to include:
    • Cardiopulmonary Bypass / Extracorporeal circulation.
    • Counterpulsation / Intra-aortic Balloon Pump.
    • Ventricular assist devices.
    • Autotransfusion / Blood conservation.
    • Myocardial preservation / delivery of cardioplegia solution.
    • Anticoagulation monitoring.
    • Hematological analysis.
    • Physiological monitoring.
    • Blood gas / Chemistry analysis.
    • Induction of hypothermia/hyperthermia.
    • Hemoconcentration.
    • Administration of pharmacological agents under a physician’s guidance.
    • Documentation including electronic charting when applicable.
    • Review of patient’s chart for appropriate medical strategy and design.
    • Backup other CCP staff or contractors in the performance of the above when necessary.
  • Blood gas / Chemistry analysis.
  • Physiological monitoring.
  • Review of patient’s chart for appropriate medical strategy and design.
  • Verifies and implements physician’s orders pertaining to drug dosages and monitors potential drug interactions pertaining to the ECMO patient.
  • Performs patient assessment to anticipate and prevent potential problems (e.g., variances in blood pressure, perfusion, and heart rate).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior sales experience and sales management is required.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Maintain compliance with required credentialing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High level administrative or management experience.
  • American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) certification is preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience as both perfusionist and providing ECLS specific services are preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited perfusion training program.
