Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy for refurbishment projects, aligning it with the organization's circular economy objectives to maximize resource efficiency, waste reduction, and material reuse.

Provide visionary leadership to inspire the design team and achieve excellence in refurbishment design, emphasizing sustainability, efficiency, and quality.

Foster innovative thinking and explore new design concepts, methodologies, and technologies to optimize refurbishment processes and products.

Integrate circular economy principles into the design process, driving the adoption of sustainable practices throughout the refurbishment lifecycle.

Project Management and Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, procurement, and sustainability, to ensure seamless execution of refurbishment projects, enabling timely delivery, adherence to budgetary constraints, and achievement of project goals.

Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, providing effective project management oversight and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Quality Control, Design Standards, and Compliance:

Establish design standards, guidelines, and best practices for refurbishment projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, sustainability certifications, and quality standards.

Conduct regular design reviews, provide feedback, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the refurbishment design process, fostering a culture of quality and excellence.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to understand their needs, gather feedback, and incorporate it into the design process, ensuring customer-centric solutions.

Collaborate with this Renew Strategy team to effectively communicate the organization's refurbishment design capabilities and sustainability commitments, enhancing brand reputation and market positioning.

Talent Development and Team Management:

Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to team members, facilitating their professional growth and development, and promoting a positive work environment.

This role will have up to 70% travel. It will require traveling to factory sites located globally.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Track record of successfully leading design teams and managing multiple complex projects, delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • 8+ years of proven leadership experience in electronics/hardware product design and manufacturing, preferably within the refurbishment, sustainability, or circular economy domain.
  • Strong knowledge of circular design principles, sustainable materials, and refurbishment processes, with a demonstrated ability to apply them in practical settings.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans, aligning design objectives with business goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in design, industrial design, engineering, or a related field, preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying and addressing design challenges effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, certifications, and standards, ensuring compliance and staying up to date with industry trends and advancements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
