What you will be doing:



Director of Continous Improvement is responsible for driving the process, performance management, and overall execution of the stores' Lean program within Retail Operations. They will lead a Lean Transformation team.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone to come at the initial stages of our Lean journey and shape it from end to end. This role will give you visibility at all levels within the organization and make a significant, transformational impact on our operations strategy, culture, and day-to-day processes.


Business travel required: 10-30%


Main responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Corporate Retail Operations team, Division and Front-line teams in stores to drive continuous improvement (often based on principles of ‘Lean’) in store operations; this includes identification, design, testing, implementation, and measurement of initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure financial recognition of project impacts and forecasted impact.
  • Mentor and guide Greenbelts through project completion
  • Lead ‘Lean Transformation’ program delivery
  • Act as a problem-solving partner for the Corporate team and Field teams as they seek to identify new initiatives and generate greater impact, faster
  • Leads and reviews processes for enterprise-wide and functional projects.
  • Oversee Lean idea collection from Field teams and manage vetting process to continuously fill initiative pipeline
  • Present/support preparation of program updates for key stakeholder and executive-level meetings (e.g C-suite meetings)
  • Lead Lean Transformation Team through waves of store department reviews (e.g., kick-off, observations, ideation, design and testing, stakeholder engagement, training development, rollout, implementation follow-up, remediation)
  • Drive Lean initiative identification and delivery
  • Establish and maintain Enterprise key KPIs, Dashboards, and reoccurring reporting on program and initiative performance to the leadership team
  • Partner with Learning & Development team to ensure training is updated, maintained, and completed by applicable Field teams
  • Continuously identify initiatives roadblocks or delays, define actions needed to unblock and follow up to ensure “course correction” problem solving as needed to keep initiatives on track


Our talented operations leader has:


  • Ability and passion to spend time in facilities learning about the operations, people, culture to identify and solve for opportunities
  • Undergraduate degree required in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, and Operations Research; MBA preferred
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Positive and proactive process management with an eye for detail and a strong challenger mentality
  • Broad understanding of working of various departments in retail or healthcare organizations (other than operations) e.g., merchandising, finance, HR, real estate, etc.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification with Lean and DMAIC experience
  • Excellent people-management, negotiation, presentation, and executive-level communication skills
  • Ability to build a strong network across the organization at both Corporate, Division and facility Fvel,
  • 7+ years of experience in defining, managing, and delivering large-scale complex business change and/or continuous improvement programs ideally in a retail or healthcare setting
  • Adept at problem-solving, with sound business judgment and strong analytical skill


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
  • Must be able to be on feet 6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time to our facilities.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs.
