About This Role


Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director in the Digital Technology & Innovation Platform Services Group. This is a hands-on technology leader role which will lead a team of highly skilled Senior Leaders and Engineers focused on key areas of Shared Services including second level support, Change Management, Technical Project Management Support, Vulnerability Management, Access Management, Problem and Incident Management, BCP, Application Security, Patching, Technology Compliance Initiatives and Process Control & Support.


In This Role, You Will


  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Access Management is responsible for reviewing and auditing internal access requests and existing access to ensure compliance with industry, separation of duties, and Wells Fargo security standards. Work within the tools, and with access related to application servers, databases, BoKS Keon, and user / non-user access. Manage larger access-related projects such as Increased Password Length (IPL) project and Cyber Vaulting password
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
  • Manage an Application Security Team security suite as it pertains to the Digital Banking Login flow (desktop and mobile logins) Conversant with the current threat landscape in the industry and manage application security solutions
  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads performing on-call support and application security
  • Manage an On-call Production Support Team and Server Readiness Process including a 24-by-7 on-call production support engineering team for 75 platform operating system customization, operational readiness and ssl certificate management
  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
  • Manage a team of technical project managers responsible for End-to-End Infrastructure, Initiative Management including provisioning and decommissioning, release management, safety and soundness and firewall program management
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies, or industry forums
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP): Serving as Technology Resiliency and Disaster Recovery Digital Channel leader; aiming for next level resiliency efforts such as application drift (ORAP Open Resiliency), data recovery and sustained removal of applications from a data center to exemplify resiliency
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Oversite of Digital Channel Electronic Data Interchange for: Incident Management, Change Management, Asset Management, and Configuration Management. (ServiceNow) Manage the change management team for Digital Technology (over 200 changes per month)
  • Vulnerability management including the operating system/middleware patching program, cipher suite hardening, manage the team responsible for reviewing Qualys, iTracker, middleware, and additional internal reports to determine and prioritize servers that require remediation. Oversite of team that communicates due dates to application teams and ensures teams remediate all vulnerabilities and required patching (Weblogic, Java, Tomcat, etc.) Manage the zero-day vulnerability remediation and resolution for the Digital Channel
Required Qualifications:


  • 4+ years of Management experience
  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:


  • Effective communication skills with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership
  • 8+ years of experience with enterprise scale transformation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technology efforts across several lines of business and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level
  • Broad experience across multiple areas of technology including one or more of architecture, infrastructure, application development and engineering
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology transformations
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions
  • 8+ years of experience managing software development projects
  • Extensive experience utilizing OKRs framework for focusing organizational efforts and attaining challenging goals
  • Ability to effectively drive and lead operational change in an organization with Wells Fargo's size, scale and complexity
  • 8+ years of experience with Agile practices including 5+ years with systems architecture design
  • 5+ years of experience with modern software engineering technologies and tool sets including 3+ years managing a 100+ FTE engineering organization
  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise and WFT strategies
  • 10+ years' software engineering experience as well as demonstrated experience in Application Platform Support and/or Technology Operations.
  • Highly effective decision-making, critical thinking, problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood in support of sound decisions to meet business objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or engineering
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives
  • Measurable impacts and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in a technical environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment
  • Proven experience as a highly effective leader with credibility from demonstrating strong business and technology acumen
Job Expectations:


  • Ability to manage a group of on-call teams and attend calls when needed.
  • Ability to work additional hours outside regular business hours.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
Pay Range


$207,900.00 - $431,900.00 Annual
