Who You Are:
As the Designer of Women’s Accessories, you have a strong background in handbag design. You are detail oriented, organized, have strong technical skills and the ability to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines. You are collaborative, a strong communicator, results driven and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
What You’ll Do:
  • Able to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
  • Actively participate in the conceptual development of innovative and directional product lines (i.e., selling ideas/concepts and convincing others to adopt a course of action)
  • Maintain a library of HB specific seasonal product offerings, master specs, and design standards.
  • Understand the Michael Kors aesthetic and translate it into brand appropriate commercial product.
  • Ensure that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy; interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategy.
  • Conduct spec review sessions.
  • Manages technical designs of all products from design to the factories.
  • Partner with cross functional divisions to achieve consistency in product across categories. Communicate any changes and lead the themes per season for accessories
  • Responsible for entire product design process including market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, specing and function.
  • Oversee product from concept right up to production and communicate any changes to the appropriate cross-functional partners.
  • Manage the selection of materials with the materials team each season.
  • Responsible for researching global markets to identify new trends, materials, novelty techniques, etc.
  • Partner with cross functional divisions to achieve consistency in product across categories.
  • Ensure that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy; interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategy.
  • Oversee seasonal conceptualization and creation of design concepts and styles for the Mainline Handbag division.
You’ll Need to Have:
  • The ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts
  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to work in NYC Office 3-4 days/week
  • Strong Technical Skills
  • Experience communicating the development with factories
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accessories Design or equivalent
  • 6-8 years of design experience within accessories
  • Skills to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines

$90,000-$150,000
