Denim Designer Jobs

Summary: The denim designer will be responsible for developing and approving denim finishes, wash techniques, as well as designing and developing the denim line. This role reports into the Senior Design Director, Denim.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for bringing new wash and sustainability ideas to the table each season while also conducting seasonless, continual research and development.
• Seek innovation through vintage research, market research, tradeshows and on-line research.
• Understanding of denim industry trends and sustainability advancements.
• Spearhead research and development of all seasonal denim wash and design concepts.
• Prepare presentation boards with inspiration, fabrication, and washes for internal milestone meetings.
• Track, manage and organize wash and approval standards library.
• Partner with cross-functional team to meet all calendar and milestone deadlines.
• Strong technical denim wash knowledge, able to troubleshoot wash formulas with factories.
• Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to mitigate risk during wash submit review.
• Partner with PD to drive innovation and sustainability initiatives in denim, through raw materials, washes, artwork and finishing techniques.
• Partner with production teams to ensure all wash costing is done accurately, troubleshoot wash cost issues.
• Ownership of wash comments at development and bulk production stages, responsible for communicating comments to the factories in a timely manner.

­ Position Requirements & Skills:

• Highly organized, motivated and detail oriented, with an innate sense for trend and color direction.
• Expertise in denim and non-denim wash methods.
• Minimum 3-5 years of Denim experience. Must have worked in denim apparel category.
• Must be a team player and able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• Understanding of denim garment construction and textiles.
• ·Proficient in standard computer programs, Microsoft Office, and design related software, Adobe Creative Suite; Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $90,000 to $100,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
