Job Purpose
Our Cybersecurity Engineers work with Department of Defense contractors to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical defense systems that meet government security requirements. Additionally, we are tasked with improving the overall project management discipline of our clients by increasing collaboration and innovation and introducing techniques that promote adaptability and flexibility in the face of unpredictable circumstances, and that optimize return on investment expenditures.
The Cybersecurity Engineer we hire for this role will act as the Cyber Technical Lead for the development of a ground system for a new United States Space Force (USSF) satellite constellation. This person will maintain a focus on software security, while working the security engineering team to architect, develop and sell-off products to a government customer. Work will include driving configuration development, leading Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and testing, and guiding the cyber engineering team as they engage with other development teams to deliver a secure environment for Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission operations. Ideally, this candidate has experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF). We consider experience with OPIR missions to be a significant bonus for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, validate and verify software solutions are appropriately cyber secure across the lifecycle and across multidisciplinary teams
- Execute cyber test activities to include test reporting and software assurance (SWA)-related testing activities
- Recommend software vulnerability mitigations and coding practice changes
- Conduct cybersecurity evaluation of software designs to verify and validate compliance with defined specifications and requirements
- Lead software vulnerability risk assessment team
- Perform attack surface analysis activities
- Lead the cybersecurity aspect of software development
- Coordinate cyber risk assessments and Cyber Table Top (CTT) reviews in support of Cyber activities
- Develop best practice software coding guidelines and examples for embedded systems.
- Collaborate with software development leadership to ensure cybersecurity best practices are incorporated in daily coding practices
- Support program engineering environment to include hardware and software tools as well as equipment and applications that may emulate systems and cyber threats
- Develop Cyber Plans and Procedures
- Conduct cyber risk assessment activities, including threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and analysis of mitigation solutions
Required Qualifications
- Experience with cybersecurity concepts and principles
- Software development experience
- US Citizen with the ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in CyberSecurity Engineering
- Hands-on scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computer Science (Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education)
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
- Cybersecurity engineering experience with embedded systems development for DoD
- Strong cross-team, cross-discipline collaborative leadership, focusing on win-win solutions
- Experience working within an agile workflow
- Possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II, or higher, certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, etc.)
- Strong focus on internal and external customer success
- Current TS/SCI Clearance
- Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Strong technical writing skills
- Experience with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR)
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Vulnerability analysis and risk assessment
- Networking fundamentals
Other Company Requirements

- DoD Secret or higher clearance is preferred. All applicants must be US citizens eligible for a US Government security clearance

Expected Salary Range
Depending on experience and skillset, most candidates will earn between $150,000 and $230,000 per year.
