Job Description
* At Securian Financial Group the internal title for this position is Business Operations Consultant.
Overview:
Securian has an Enterprise Continuous Process Measurement and Improvement (ECPM/I) unit to create and sustain process improvement and measurement solutions for the Company. Continuous Process Measurement and Improvement (CPM/I) supports a culture of innovation, data driven decision making, and continuous business transformation initiatives. CPM/I focuses on improving the bottom line by increasing efficiency, increasing sales through enhanced quality and improving associate and customer satisfaction.
The Continuous Process Improvement Consultant will play an integral role in achieving the goals of ECPM/I as described above. This position will function as an expert in process improvement, measurement, analysis, change management, and general problem solving. This position will also be responsible for providing guidance to business units in successfully adopting and sustaining process improvement in their areas.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Consult on measurement related subjects including success metrics and process metrics. Conduct ECPI training and coaching to business associates at all levels.
  • Use ECPI methodologies and tools that serve as a foundation for the ECPI Competency Center.
  • Identify and implement industry and technology best practices in support of continuous improvement business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with functional business leaders and teams to drive the identification, definition and prioritization of business process improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a catalyst for change management efforts associated with deploying process improvement throughout the Company.
  • Participate in other competency center activities.
  • Facilitate end-to-end process improvement projects and activities.
  • Lead ECPI events and discussions with external consultants.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent problem solving, judgment and decision making skills to address complex business issues and recommend and develop solutions that generate business value.
  • Ability to learn and successfully certify in process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong project management and planning skills to actively participate in the development of continuous improvement project plans.
  • Ability to solve problems using data.
  • Ability to read audiences accurately and operate with diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills to lead process improvement business activities across the enterprise and to advise business leaders regarding process options, costs and benefits and recommendations.
  • Ability to assess financial impacts of potential process improvement scenarios (cost-benefit analysis and other techniques).
  • Ability to effectively manage change.
  • Ability to train and mentor process modeling skills and continuous process improvement methodologies/practices.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up 8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 6-8 hours per day
