Purpose
:
This position provides leadership and support within assigned region in alignment with Berry Global’s overall Continuous Improvement strategy. This role will focus on assisting the Regional Operations Vice President in creating sustained culture change within assigned area. (This is a leadership development role. The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will interact with and develop a working knowledge of multiple functions across the division. Expectations are that after spending 18 – 36 months in this role, the successful candidate will take on a Berry leadership position with expanded responsibilities. Candidates should be open to relocation and assuming potentially diverse job responsibilities in the future.)
Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional teams that will gather information to evaluate current work processes and identify improvement strategies. Facilitate employee team meetings to build cohesiveness and improve project team results.
  • Maintain open communication with key personnel involved in Continuous Improvement. Report/track the progress, milestones, savings, and other key aspects of projects that are being led or mentored.
  • Utilize Lean principles and the Six Sigma methodology to develop and execute productivity, quality, growth, safety and cash flow projects.
  • Teach Lean Six Sigma classes, and provide ongoing project support regarding Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Key focus on business processes, transactional operations, change management leadership, and lean manufacturing techniques. Specific areas of interest can include but not be limited to operations, customer service, supply chain, finance, marketing, sourcing, strategic planning, sales, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate project deck ideas and charters with respective champions. Assist management team with developing the business case to identify key improvement opportunities aligned with business priorities.
  • Champion tracking project status and reporting financial results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business objectives.
  • Execute multi - site projects/programs concurrently.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment. Proficiency in gathering, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Must be available to travel approximately 50%+

  • Certified Black Belt

  • A proven track record of managing multiple projects/programs using Lean Six Sigma methodology in business or transactional processes.
  • Four-year degree in a Technical (Engineering preferred) or Business-related discipline and 3 to 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
