Job Description

As Basta's Career Success Manager, you will coach a caseload of Basta Fellows through their search for a career pathway first job in the second phase of our Fellowship program. You will lead weekly small group coaching sessions and hold young people accountable to meeting ambitious targets for their weekly job search progress. You will support all aspects of your caseload of ~70 fellows’ job searches, from defining goals to editing cover letters and preparing for interviews, leveraging asynchronous feedback and ad hoc 1:1 sessions as necessary. Through effective prioritization and strong career coaching skills, you will support 75%+ of fellows to secure career pathway jobs within six months of graduating and completing the first phase of the Fellowship.


You will do this by:

● Leading energizing and efficient weekly small group coaching sessions, providing differentiated support across 10-15 fellows in a single call

● Holding young people accountable to their individual goals for weekly job search activity

● Leading effective 1:1 interview prep sessions with fellows before each interview

● Leveraging a deep understanding of individual fellow profiles and the entry-level job market to recommend best-fit opportunities to young people Meeting with all fellows in your cohort individually multiple times across the program, providing individualized coaching & support based on fellows’ needs as they refine their job search strategy/ career interests

● Providing regular written feedback on resumes, cover letters, emails, etc. through Basta’s “feedback channel.”

● Following up on Fellows about relevant job opportunities for which they may be a good fit

● Collaborating on special projects/duties as assigned by the manager

● You take complete ownership of your work, but you’re not afraid to ask for help when you need it. You’re also willing to jump in wherever you’re needed.

● You’ve worked with your adults (16-24 years old) before and have 5+ years of professional experience

● You are comfortable working in a virtual environment using virtual communication/collaboration tools, including Google docs, Zoom, and Slack

● You are based in or near New York City and able to attend in-person sessions/events, including weekend and evening work.


Qualifications:

● Lived experience of the Fellows we serve (Preferred)

● Experience working with/coaching first-generation college students

● Career readiness or private sector recruitment experience
