Location: New York, NY

WHO WE ARE

The Food Education Fund is a nonprofit program that prepares and empowers New York public high school students to continue their education and cultivate sustainable careers. The goal of our programs is to expose students to a broad range of opportunities while assisting in the development of a vision for their future, structured with the appropriate foundation and resources.


The Food Education Fund runs various programs to accomplish this mission, including the senior internship program, the visiting chef program, and the first-of-its-kind student-run School Grounds Cafe. The Food Education Fund also awards scholarships and assists with the college prep and search process.


OUR MISSION

Through experiential learning in the culinary arts, hospitality, and entrepreneurship, Food Education Fund prepares and empowers its community of students and alumni to continue their education and cultivate sustainable careers.


THE POSITION

The Career Development Manager will be responsible for implementing career development programming with guidance from the Postsecondary Success Director. Career development programming focuses on job training and internships and also includes college preparation workshops, soft skills training, and support of key FEF events and fundraisers. This role will be responsible for maintaining, growing, and liaising with industry partners across all programming.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a multi-year development program including but not limited to: soft skills, career and professional development, internships and leadership development
  • Organize career-related services and programs specific to student demographics
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analyses and analytic evaluations of all programing, graduation rates, job placements, alumni and any other appropriate data
  • Meet one-on-one with student to provide career development guidance and monitor the fulfillment of the required career checklist
  • Orchestrate life skill seminars and workshops for student including but not limited to financial literacy, resume writing, and interview preparation
  • Coordinate and execute networking and mentoring initiatives among current student and alumni while maintaining an up-to-date alumni database
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Grown and maintain site partners and ensure regular site visits and site evaluations are executed
  • Facilitate long term relationships with key industry leaders in a variety of fields to develop key pipelines for employment


KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 3+ years of professional work experience in career development, post-secondary success counseling, or related fields
  • 3+ years of data analysis and metric development
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and communities; demonstrated ability to work well with diverse or marginalized populations; can bring in allies across diverse communities
  • Drive for success in efforts to achieve organization and departmental goals
  • Ability to understand and analyze program data and the purpose of its usage; use data to identify programmatic trends and develop responsive practices for improving programs
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, program development, and task facilitation
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce
  • Clear and compelling in both verbal and written communications
  • Knowledge of CUNY and SUNY systems and experience developing relationships with admissions and administrators at a wide range of colleges and universities
  • A strong knowledge of academic advising, student retention initiatives, and a track record of exceeding job expectations


Preferred

  • Experience in oversight of a 4+1 degree program
  • Google Suite, Zoom, and Salesforce experience a plus, or demonstrated experience to learn new systems
  • Direct understanding of the DOE, the college application process, and experience networking with college counselors
  • Master’s degree in school counseling, education, or related field
  • Experience in culinary higher education
  • Other languages proficiency a plus
  • Navigation of social media platforms and increasing visibility and engagement


WORK SCHEDULE

The Career Development Manager will be a full-time employee. The schedule of the CDM will be discussed with the Executive Director, but will be on-site 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, with a few possible evenings and Saturdays. The CDM will manage their time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed during peak periods and that long-term projects are completed during non-peak periods.


START DATE

This is a full-time position beginning ASAP. This position requires availability to occasional Saturdays and evenings as necessary in regards to scheduled special events including the annual gala, board meetings, student showcase, and so forth.

Salary: $70,000
