As a Business Systems Analyst, you’ll collaborate with product management and engineering teams, bridging the gap between business and technology throughout the product lifecycle to support development that ensures a compelling digital experience for our retail Customers, or help arm H-E-B Partners company-wide with world-class business applications to thrive in their jobs.

The Digital ETI (Emerging Technologies & Innovation) Team:
H-E-B is looking for leaders to advance further our ability to inspire, innovate, and drive transformative change through the discovery, learning, and implementation of technologies that will improve the lives of our customers and Partners. The Digital Emerging Technology and Innovation team is the technical arm charged with supporting these endeavors. As a member of the team, you will partner with the business to ideate, pilot, and potentially roll out technologies to enhance the partner and customer journey. This team will have the opportunity to work with machine learning, computer vision, IoT, wayfinding, sensor fusion, and many other bleeding-edge technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team on an inspiring mission.

We are looking for:
  • Strong Excel, SQL, and analytical skills
  • 3+ years of experience
  • A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience

What is the work?
Analytics / Reporting & Documentation / Testing:
  • Identifies / documents functional and non-functional requirements
  • Contributes to refinement of SDLC-related tools, standards, and training
  • Assists Product Management and business stakeholders in understanding impacts of requests on the project, associated applications, and other business units
  • Partners with Engineering and QA on creation of test cases designed to validate functional and non-functional system requirements
  • Influences end-to-end quality strategy for a product or group of closely aligned product(s)
  • Uses data to help drive decisions
  • Applies a high-level understanding of each product’s system architecture and the technologies used to move / modify data in them (e.g., queues / messaging services, webservices, APIs, databases)
  • Refines requirements (user stories) so they are readily consumable by software Engineers

What is your background?
  • A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
  • Experience supporting retail, supply chain, ecommerce, or digital marketing operations a plus

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Business Systems Analyst at H-E-B?
  • Working knowledge of Agile / Scrum and project management tools
  • Strong Excel, SQL, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to validate data and understand how it flows end-to-end for a product or group of closely aligned product(s)
  • Knowledge of databases and data stores, and how to access data
  • Ability to break down complex problems into components and reassemble them to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL, and how to build queries independently
  • Self-directed
  • Ability to leverage data to tell a meaningful story
