Our Business Intelligence and Analytics team is a large (40+) person department that provides complex information solutions to our corporate leadership. The team focuses on the timely delivery of accurate, relevant and easily accessible information to all of its hospitals, as well as Montefiore's corporate decision makers, and external regulators or partners.
The technical team is comprised of data architects, DBAs, database engineers, business intelligence developers and business analysts who shepherd data from Montefiore’s multiple source systems to the Enterprise Data Warehouse and then to our customers through the business intelligence self-service platformT
The BI Analyst will develop Crystal Reports, data extracts, ad hoc queries, and other BI solutions for customers, and to work with internal business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure result validity.

We are seeking a BI Analyst to work with our organization’s Executives to build analytic solutions which support the overall mission, clinical goals, operational goals, and strategic goals of Montefiore. The BI Analyst will work with our Executive teams to define measures and provide expertise in identifying and evaluating requirements so that they meet the user’s needs.
The BI Analyst has responsibilities within each phase of the project life cycle including user meetings, requirements gathering, creating Business Requirement documents and technical specifications, database design and development, report and dashboard development, testing, coordinating UAT, implementation, and go-live.
These projects include data feeds, data marts, reports, and dashboards that support Montefiore strategic goals. The Senior Business Analyst provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educate and train Executive users on the Executive Analytic products.
- Work with said leaders to define performance measurements for Executive reporting, identify needs, and requests for the project. Drive requirements to yield desired results. Analyze user’s needs to provide solutions to complex problems. With an in-depth understanding of the data, make suggestions which result in meaningful outcomes based on the findings and criteria of the users.
- Oversee and lead each phase of the project life cycle including user meetings, requirements gathering, testing, implementation, and go-live. Analyze requirements. Work closely with team members to identify constraints, determine level of effort, and the potential to meet user needs.
- Create all necessary supporting project documentation. Document business rules, specifications, and user requirements. This includes but is not limited to Business Requirement Documents, Source to Target Mapping documents, Functional Specifications. Maintain specifications, revising as changes and enhancements are developed.
- Plan and execute all functional, regression, and acceptance testing to ensure finished product meet user’s requirements. Thoroughly test all products end to end (database, BI tool, etc.)
- Work closely with Executive, Financial and Operational client leaders, building relationships and serving as a liaison between the project team and the client.
- Analyze clinical, business and operational processes, workflows and source systems. Identify the data sources, understand the sources systems and the workflows that feed them. Identify stakeholders and business owners.
- The BI Analyst will work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects concurrently, meeting aggressive deadlines.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS:
- Ability to juggle several complex projects, while also handling ad hoc requests
- Attention to detail, but with an ability to understand the big picture view and understand when projects or efforts have conflicting objectives
- Experience with SQL Metrics and dashboards
- Understanding of Crystal Reports and WebI reports
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – succinctly communicates constructive, actionable points to the customer’s POV
- Experience with commercial BI Reporting tools such as Business Objects, Power BI
- Strong SQL Skills
- Expertise in documentation
- Ability to self-motive and work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment

- While this team works remotely some of the time, you must be prepared to work in our office as required. Montefiore requires employees to reside in NY, NJ, CT, or PA, and to be vaccinated
