As a Barclays Business Analyst, you will work to understand business problems, often helping to bridge the gap between the customer/business stakeholders and teams with a technical focus. Accordingly, you must combine an understanding of your business area with an understanding of the products, services, or technology that you are working with. You will be focused on technical and operational delivery. You will need to work closely with product, operations, and technical delivery teams. You will be responsible for definition of requirements.

What will you be doing?

• Creating a single voice that helps define what the business needs, this means unifying the views of various stakeholders, resolving conflicts, balancing value, risk, suitability
• Participating in the design process, helping to resolve design issues and contradictory requirements
• Producing epics and user/feature stories, defining the Business Objectives that form the backlog of tasks to be done based on customer or colleague needs and journeys
• Creating an effective Operational Design that is focused on customer outcomes first, explaining operational impacts and the operating model, gaining agreement for the same
• Ensuring ‘traceability’ (that value is added to the business area investing in the change), that design teams understand the business need developing initial acceptance criteria
• Combining experience of process, technology and regulation to act as a source of best practice guidance and expertise, helping to make decisions and solve problems
• Quantifying the impact of technology on customers and colleagues, informing communications on the changes (including how the technology works) & related business
• Inputting into ideation, helping to create the problem statements that describe what needs to be done & why & helping to drive alignment & definition of Business Objectives

What we’re looking for:

• An appreciation of ‘whole-systems-thinking’, being able to see the bigger picture of how processes in different areas of the bank interact, so that problems can be solved
• Results-focused and adaptable, proven delivery of valuable outcomes
• An ability and willingness to look across related fields (e.g., Front Office, Operations, Technology)
• Exposure to large and complex programs within financial services

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Proven experience in a Business Analyst role for a large initiative
• Whilst people management is not required directly for this role, there is a need for the role-holder to be able to comfortably influence and direct the activities of others
• Corporate Banking knowledge
• An appreciation of project and programme governance activities required in a large regulated financial service firm
