The Benefits Analyst position is responsible for assisting with the administration and operations of group benefits programs. This position provides excellent customer service and is attentive to detail.
Location: Strongly prefer Pittsburgh, PA, but open to alternative locations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and support to all US employees and Human Resource Managers.
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
  • Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs.
  • Participates in working sessions partnering with various subject matter experts such as payroll, HRIT, HRIS for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
  • Delivers presentations such as new hire orientation.
  • Manage exchange of information with insurance carriers, brokers and consultants for claim and utilization data, enrollment information for reporting and billing purposes.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assessments. Review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluation task forces.
  • Answer and assist with the resolution of employee benefit inquires according to benefit policies and procedures.
  • Distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files in Workday and with benefit carriers.
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing.
  • Prepares and distributes 1095-Cs
  • Allocate group health and dental claims monthly and review quarterly.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with HRIS systems required, Workday experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation.
  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between $75,300- $131, 700. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. While this position is remote, it may include occasional work at a Wabtec office/site or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
