About the role
The AVP Creative Director, Retail and Brand Experince is responsible for overseeing the concepts, design direction and development of consumer-centric, brand-elevating, and relevant visual merchandising strategy across global retailers and brand experience activations. This role will oversee all 4 brands in the e.l.f. Beauty portfolio.
Detailed Responsibilities and Requirements
Responsibilities
- Partner with Global Creative team and AVP, Creative Director, AVP VM and International teams to ensure that all in-store, window and pop-up experience activations are best-in-class, brand appropriate and franchise-focused
- Work closely with Sales, Brand, VM HQ, Creative Teams and Project Management to ensure successful and timely execution of all projects.
- Ability to use data-driven insights to conceptualize and lead creative concepts and planogram updates.
- Create presentations for internal reviews with Upper Management and address feedback with solution-based creative thinking.
- Lead the creation of a Retail tool kit which will include approved assets, layouts and suggested copy to be applied to the various sizes and formats needed for fixture, promotional displays (POP), signage, and other in-store environments.
- Proven experience scaling brands globally and adapting creative to local markets as needed.
- Manage internal teams to ensure overall look and feel of brand is globally consistent & locally relevant.
- Partner closely with Creative Director, Digital & Content to ensure imagery and design is consistent across print and digital channels.
- Coordinate and approve as-needed deliverables and presentations for internal and retailers' meetings.
- Coordinate feedback with Design, Copy, and Project Management teams to ensure the success of a project from start to finish while meeting production deadlines.
- Fully understand and reinforce consistency in brand look, feel and tone while working closely with Brand & Sales to translate as per retailer’s priorities.
- Work closely with Visual Merchandising team to lead inspiration, concepts, design direction for retail.
- Ability to partner with the regions to better understand local needs as well as driving creativity and ideas sharing
- Responsible for translating seasonal product launches into key storytelling moments that resonate with our retailers and community
- Provide timely feedback on print-ready files and proofs for all accounts to ensure brand standards are met.
- Ability to provide clear and timely creative direction to agencies, VM team and internal partners
- Collaborate with Sales & Brand Teams to ensure product lineup corresponds to brand strategy and business priorities.
- Attend seasonal photo shoots to ensure capture of to ensure photography captures product features and storytelling initiatives
- Provide clear direction to team and peers; fostering an environment that rewards innovation and disruption
Requirements
- 10+ years of Visual Brand Experience Leadership experience in fast paced environment
- Prior experience reviewing fixturing planograms and engineering drawings
- A passion for beauty and experience working on other beauty brands in retail is a bonus.
- Excellent communication, time management/organizational skills for deadline-driven projects.
- Excellent graphic signage composition and hierarchy to enhance storytelling
- Ability to learn new workplace applications.
- An exceptional portfolio of work with retail and brand experience
- Expert knowledge in Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and design shifts.
- 3D, structural design capabilities
- Sketchup or 3D program experience a plus
- Highly organized, timely ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
