We strive to create a workplace that fosters mutual respect and collaboration, where every talent individual can JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Counsel (Litigation) will work closely with the Senior Counsel, the General Counsel and other members of the Legal Department Management Team to manage MultiPlan's legal affairs, provide counsel to management and support operations, with a focus on the areas of litigation and risk management.
JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide legal and business counsel on issues arising in investigations, disputes, litigation, and, where applicable, insurance coverage considerations.
2. Develop and execute on strategy for MultiPlan's pre-litigation and litigation matters, including identifying and analyzing legal issues, preparing memoranda and key documents, resolving disputes and seeking proactive solutions to avoid future disputes.
3. Participate in managing MultiPlan relationships with outside litigation counsel, including in nationwide complex commercial litigation.
4. Provide leadership and guidance to paralegals to maintain best practices in litigation management, discovery and litigation projects, and provide leadership to Assistant Counsel, paralegals and administrative professionals in other parts of the Legal Department.
5. Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and all other MultiPlan departments including, but not limited to, Sales and Account Management, Network Development, Marketing, Operations, IT, Finance, Human Resources, and Healthcare Economics on issues arising in litigation.
6. Support Customer Service/Dispute Resolution processes and assist in the development and implementation of preventive programs to mitigate legal exposure for MultiPlan.
7. Support MultiPlan's regulatory compliance programs and processes and ensure compliance with HIPPA regulations and requirements.
8. Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments.

JOB SCOPE: This individual assumes responsibility for complex legal projects and works independently under minimal supervision and with considerable discretion to make decisions that affect the day-to-day operations within the Company. The incumbent applies comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to complete job responsibilities. The incumbent acts as a resource for Assistant Counsels, Paralegals, and other Law Department staff as well as other Company departments. Work requires basing decisions on sound logic and rationale; advancing problems or issues toward resolution when encountering ambiguity or uncertainty; choosing the best alternative based on consideration of pros, cons, tradeoffs, timing and available resources; making timely decisions on problems and issues requiring immediate attention; and making sound decisions on complex legal/business issues and problems. An incumbent may have direct subordinates but will generally provide work direction to others who do not directly report to this job.
The salary range for this position is $95-145K. Specific offers take into account a candidate's education, experience and skills, as well as the candidate's work location and internal equity. This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k and bonus opportunity.

- Minimum Juris Doctorate
- Ability to manage outside counsel
- Ability to drive execution
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel is preferred
- Other required licensures, professional certifications, and/or Board certifications as applicable
- Minimum 5 years' experience related to commercial litigation; familiarity with health care law or related fields a plus.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or employees
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to handle long-term and/or complex legal projects with significant financial or other business impact
- Meeting management, analytical, communication, presentation, people management, and problem solving skills
- Ability to analyze issues and use sound judgment
- Ability to use software, hardware, and peripherals related to job responsibilities
- Ability to represent the company in a positive and professional manner
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
