Job Summary
Paycor is seeking a talented Compliance Counsel to join its Legal & Risk Team. The attorney will be responsible for providing legal guidance pertaining to internal compliance particularly related to data privacy; partnering with the Commercial Legal Team to negotiate privacy provisions in contracts; as well as generating, mobilizing, supporting, and executing related projects. In this role, you will support Paycor’s strategic initiatives through providing data protection counsel, developing standards, and operationalizing compliance policies, and legal support of customer, partner, and vendor contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel related to data protection matters by assisting the Procurement and Commercial Transactions teams, negotiating data privacy related agreements and provisions, and developing contract language as needed to maintain or strengthen the organization’s compliance with law and policies protecting sensitive information.
  • Support the maturation and expansion of Paycor’s data protection and corporate compliance infrastructure including the evolution of policies and programs and their alignment to organizational controls.
  • Act as the primary support for Paycor’s Customer Information Security program – partner with internal business units, responding to reported incidents that require legal input, maintaining existing controls, and identifying improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that incoming subpoenas, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), and due diligence requests are appropriately addressed.
  • Assist Paycor’s Legal team in day-to-day functions as assigned.
  • Keep up to date on changes in regulation, legislation, and market expectations related to privacy and data protection laws. Engage with the business through training and raising awareness on these developments.
Requirements
  • Experience with contract negotiation and vendor risk management preferred
  • Knowledge of basic principles of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
  • Licensed to practice law (Ohio preferred)
  • Privacy compliance experience preferred
  • Juris Doctor degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to rapidly changing environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Minimal travel

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay, (85,540 - 146,040). Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on the position.
