Budget Title: Admissions Advisor (SL-3)
Salary: $65,000-$70,000
Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director to support Enrollment Management for the six schools at Binghamton University through identifying, selecting, and enrolling students from an assigned geographic territory (NYC and surrounding metro area). The Undergraduate Admissions office is seeking a team member with demonstrated communication skills and enthusiasm to represent the University among prospective students, their families, and colleagues.
Essential Functions
  • Utilize web-based tools to enhance the communication and efficiency of admissions work in a regionally based setting
  • Coordinate receptions and information sessions for recruitment and yield purposes with prospective students, applicants, parents, counselors and alumni in order to build awareness and increase enrollments from the specified area; these may involve working with representatives from other colleges or universities
  • Prepare reports and innovative proposals to help understand the assigned territory and further the goals of the region
  • Build, implement and maintain an effective communication and recruitment plan in conjunction with office-wide strategy for assigned territory and other assigned responsibilities
  • Counsel current and prospective students and families regarding educational opportunities
  • Develop relationships with talented students throughout the recruitment cycle in conjunction with the university's goals of attracting and retaining academically talented and diverse students
  • Continue to foster established relationships and represent Binghamton University with new colleagues
  • Develop and maintain relationships and strong rapport with high school and college school officials, including principals, school counselors and community-based organizations
  • Build and maintain territory-specific queries using our CRM
  • Manage data and recruitment activities within an assigned geographic market including, but not limited to, high school visits, college fairs, hosting virtual and in person recruitment events, communication/outreach activities, and innovative presentation methods
  • Develop and maintain innovative travel plan utilizing data for recruitment within assigned territory
  • Manage a special program or serve as a liaison between undergraduate admissions and another campus constituents
  • Review application documents through a holistic reading process and make recommendations, act as an active member of application reading committees
  • Develop and maintain relationships with alumni, parents, and other university colleagues to enhance the Binghamton message
Expectations
  • Work from home with expectations for periodic office-based work regionally and on campus (6-12 times a year)
  • Ability to drive within New York City and surrounding metro NY area, as well as travel via public transportation
  • Extensive night and weekend work expected throughout various points of the admissions cycle
Requirements

  • Demonstrated public speaking ability, analytical thinking, data analysis, and creative problem solving
  • 2-5 years of professional experience
  • Strong customer service or rapport building skills
  • Ability to maintain flexible working schedule including frequent nights and weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and familiarity using data collection/management tools, as well as virtual communication tools
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State, comfortable driving and navigating in New York City
  • Reside within the New York City metro area
  • Ability to work from home and must be computer literate with access to internet, and quiet virtual presentation area
  • Able to walk, stand for long periods, lift and carry boxes/bags weighing 30 pounds or more
Preferred
  • Bilingual
  • Experience working with high academic achieving student populations
  • Experience working with a CRM
  • Master's Degree
