Compensation:
Salary Range (Hay 1040): $123,395- $177,380.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Chief is the Department of Subways user representative for the Signals, Power, and Track Capital Program Areas (2020-2024 $10.7B). The Assistant Chief has a team that provides project oversight and coordination for capital projects from inception through completion. The position makes planning decisions related to the development of Signals, Power and Track Program assets, and monitors design and construction phases and helps to resolve all DOS issues. The Track Program is mostly performed with in-house staff and so the position assists with oversight tasks. The Assistant Chief oversees staff who coordinate the reimbursable budget for DOS, the Capital Revolving Fund ($3.5M), and the Flexibility analysis for signals. Reporting to the Assistant Chief is the Force Account Unit which manages the preparation of all of DOS’ TA Labor and Engineering Force Account estimates for Capital Contracts as well as operating contracts for the Small Business Mentoring Program.
Education and Experience:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a satisfactory equivalent. Twelve (12) years of satisfactory full-time paid experience, eight (8) years of which must have been in a supervisory/managerial capacity.

- Knowledge of NYCT Capital Program, Subways' operations, and familiarity with project development.

- Familiarity with design drawings, engineering language, construction activities, and inspection process.
Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
