Department Purpose
Undergraduate Admissions (UA) provides leadership, planning, management, and implementation of undergraduate admissions, recruitment and outreach services. UA participates in development of campus enrollment goals and ensures that goals are met through implementation of UC and UC Davis Faculty policy for selective admissions, and through carrying out of internal and campus-wide enrollment management initiatives. UA also establishes initial undergraduate student profile data for the UC Davis records database and determines for each entering undergraduate their academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree.
Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Director of Recruitment, recruit and provide undergraduate admissions advising for prospective, admitted, and current UC Davis students. Explain and clarify admission policies and processes to prospective students, families, and counselors. Recruit students domestically and internationally. Guide admitted students, families, and counselors with admissions and course evaluation issues. Evaluate and enhance recruitment and yield programs for targeted populations. Provide outreach to diverse student populations at high schools, colleges, and community based agencies and organizations. Represent and speak on behalf of UC Davis at professional meetings and conferences of educators and colleagues. Evaluate and admit undergraduate students to the University, including admission by exception; establish and modify admission contracts; sustain and rescind admission offers; exercise professional judgment in the comprehensive review of applicants for selective admissions; counsel and consult prospective, conditionally admitted, denied, reinstated, and matriculated students; provide program coordination of: academic department admission reviews, deferred student enrollment, and other interoffice and student programs; implements and administers admission and evaluation policy. This position requires extensive international and domestic travel.

- Work at computer with double monitors for extended periods of time.

- Limited vacation during peak workload periods.

- Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and during office closures to meet operational needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of K-12 and higher education systems outside the state of California.
- Computer skills to utilize various programs and software for calendaring, word processing, power point, spreadsheets, reports, and student database management programs.
- Analytical skills to review and assess statistical information, program reports and evaluations, and budgets related to undergraduate admission programs.
- Presentation skills to represent the University before large and small groups conveying University information verbally and with technological tools.
- Advising and planning skills to develop educational plans for potential applicants and alternative educational plans for applicants and matriculants with university academic deficiencies.
- Knowledge of recruitment and admission program planning and design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in working with international students and cultures. International travel experience for recruitment and outreach activities. Spoken and written fluency in a language other than English preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Familiarity with academic and social problems confronting students from diverse backgrounds in high school and college settings.
- Interpersonal communication skills to collaborate, negotiate, and interact with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn campus policies, procedures, and practices in the areas of student pre-collegiate programs.
- Initiative, decision making and judgment skill to recommend and take action under general direction and within limits of broadly defined objectives and priorities.
