Job Description
High Point University is seeking a Phone Counselor. This position is a full-time, 40 hour-per-week, reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions. The Phone Counselor is responsible for answering incoming inquiries via phone, email, and chat to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Phone Counselor is also expected to provide exceptional customer service by providing detailed information about High Point University, the admissions and application process, campus visits, and more. This position has opportunities to grow and learn the entire life cycle of admissions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience and Training
  • Ability to perform calmly under stressful situations
  • Positive Customer service experience
  • Phone experience a plus
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
  • Ability to think through problems and find solutions on own and as a team member
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Some knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and ability to navigate the High Point website and global web
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Giving all callers an extraordinary experience while communicating with HPU
  • The lead in answering incoming calls to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at High Point University
  • Answering key questions asked by callers (typically students, parents, and high school counselors)
  • Forward specific calls to the appropriate party at HPU
  • Some knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and ability to navigate the High Point website and global web
  • Answers key questions asked by callers
  • Strong partnership and support of Admissions Counselors and Operations Team
  • Ensures all incoming calls to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at High Point University are answered and returned in a timely manner
  • Monitors and responds with responses in a timely manner
  • Occasional data entry
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Learns the key functions of the admissions office and process
  • Performs other related duties as assigned such as responding and updating Ocelot Chatbot,
  • Weekend and evening coverage required for Admissions Hosted Events
