We are seeking a Administrative Assistant II Lead position to join our Rehab department. This position is a full-time, scheduled 40 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

Mid Columbia Medical Center is located in The Dalles, Oregon. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Located 85 miles east of Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, The Dalles features old-growth forests, rushing waterfalls, and year-round access to outdoor recreation, including downhill and cross-country skiing, world-class water sports, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The area boasts award-winning wineries, and, most importantly, warm, friendly people.


Responsibilities


Under limited supervision, performs diverse clerical and office support that requires advanced administrative skills and knowledge of clinic or clinical department operations. Responsibilities may include providing services and information directly to patients, cleaning and stocking exam/patient rooms, keyboarding, utilizing electronic medical records system, file management, scheduling specialized procedures and/or meetings, billing responsibilities, ordering supplies and operation of office equipment.


May coordinate the process and flow of administrative work, maintaining complicated and confidential records, preparing or compiling reports or assisting providers and clinical staff as requested.


May assist in guiding patients through the entire healthcare experience including physician services, diagnostic or specialty services and hospitalizations. May involve understanding and working with insurance plans and benefit designs, and pre-authorization procedures, and some knowledge of CPT and ICD coding. Work is generally performed independently requiring judgment and problem solving skills under limited supervision. May register patients in absence of or as backup to reception.

  • Licensure/Certification:
  • May be required to have CPR/BLS certification depending upon assignment.
  • May require ability to keyboard at 60 words per minute
  • High School Graduate or equivalent; College Coursework preferred
  • Ability to handle multi-lined telephone system
  • Experience:
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports; ability to edit documents for grammar, punctuation, etc; Time Management Skills.
  • Advanced clerical skill with appropriate computer systems and software packages.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Time Management and Organization Skills
  • Ability to work with confidential information and adhere to privacy regulations.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Education:
  • Minimum two years of progressively more responsible health care experience or equivalent education in at least one of the following areas required: Patient Registration; Medical Records/Health Information; clerical support experience; Insurance Verification Authorization/Referrals
  • May require ability to transcribe reports, forms, and correspondence, including the use of technical and medical terminology, from longhand or dictation
