The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency whose mission is to successfully engage children and families to ensure safety, strengthen families, and achieve permanency. WHAT DOES AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II DO?


A Day In The Life Of An Administrative Assistant II Can Look Like


A DCS Administrative Assistant II provides a variety of support services to management in an assigned field office.


  • Scheduling interviews with job candidates and submitting new hire paperwork to Human Resources
  • Acting as Fleet Liaison for the office’s assigned vehicles
  • Preparing meeting agenda’s and materials
  • Maintaining confidential files.
  • Compiling and computing monthly statistical reports
  • Acting as the Building Liaison, submitting work orders for repairs and notifying building occupants of facilities issues


WHAT KNOWLEDGE,SKIILS AND ABILITIES ARE HELPFUL?


Knowledge Of


Computers and software (Microsoft Office Suite); mobile devices; digital calendars (Outlook) & video conferencing (Microsoft Teams); styles and formats of complex reports and composing general correspondence.


Skill In


Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; general clerical functions such as, data entry and filling; verbal and written communication; time management and multi-tasking; detailed work with accuracy; professionalism with the public and gathering and summarizing data.


Ability To


Adapt to changing priorities; troubleshoot; take initiative and collaborate and coordinate the completion of assignments with other staff and agencies.


What Is Required To Be An Administrative Assistant Ii


  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Level one Fingerprint Clearance card - Arizona.


Selected candidates must be able to pass a background investigation and DCS Central Registry check.


If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Bi-Lingual Stipend


In an effort to better serve our communities, DCS offers a Bi-Lingual Stipend to all interested and eligible DCS Employees who successfully complete a language proficiency exam. Qualifying employees will receive a $500 annual stipend paid in equal increments.

Retirement


Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).


Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of state employment.
