Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports to track our assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This is a hybrid position (locally remote in the NYC area, with some office time as needed).


Responsibilities:


  • Set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
  • Administrative and additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • SOX implementation, reporting, and ongoing compliance.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual reconciliation for all general ledger accounts
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Assist with maintenance of internal control policies and procedure documentation
  • Prepare and post monthly standard journal entries
  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
  • File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Engage in departmental projects and initiatives related to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and implementing new processes.
  • Prepare and post monthly standard journal entries activities such as insurance, utilities, payroll, real estate taxes


Salary: $90,000-120,000


Qualifications


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software (Yardi preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong use of Excel
  • Knowledge of SOX reporting and compliance preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience required.
