Purchasing Manager Jobs

CIS is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager at one of our biggest clients located in Blythewood, SC! This will be a Direct Hire or Temp to Hire position.

Salary: : $79K:

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the strategy and execution of cost savings and strategic sourcing to meet corporate goals in cost reduction, supplier reduction, and quality improvement and part consolidation. One of the primary responsibilities of this position is to lead the development and implementation of cost reduction opportunities, with his/her purchasing team. Strong emphasis will be on meeting metrics, implementing cost reduction strategies while coordinating business relationships and agreements with major suppliers. This position has direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs daily job responsibilities with the utmost integrity and trust.
• Promote and follow “Best Practice” techniques.
• - Developing direct reports - Supervise, mentor, and develop direct reports. Provides challenging and stretching tasks.
• Identify / manage supplier constraints. Create and implement contingency plans.
• Work proactively to solicit ongoing coordination and cooperation in driving cost out of the Supply Chain (conference calls, site visits, council meetings, emails, etc.)
• Strategic supplier development
• Managing and controlling PPV
• Follow defined Supplier Qualification procedures for identifying and qualifying resources for new or existing material and service needs.
• Develop and implement cost reduction opportunities.
• Provide critical assessment of suppliers and commodities.
• Create cost savings forecast and business plan to meet corporate objectives.
• Categorize supply chain spend in terms of commodity and supplier relationships. Identify common relationships and negotiate favorable agreements taking into consideration the Total Cost and impact on the respective operating groups (energy, parcel services, metal, media, LTL/Truckload, etc.)
• Conduct VA/VE workshops
• Interface with multiple departments.
• Develop robust should cost process
• Report data relative to metrics to Director of Supply Chain

Qualifications:

• Customer focused for both internal and external personnel.
• Proven history of cost reduction and ability to track P&L, maintaining both forecast and actuals.
• Ability to motivate and lead others toward obtaining corporate objectives.
• Must possess solid management skills and expertise.
• Must be organized and capable of setting priorities. Action oriented / produces results.
• Makes decisions in a timely manner.
• Ability to take charge and face adversity head on through use of command skills.
• Proven business acumen.
• Working knowledge/experience in electronics, machining, stamping or casting is a plus.
• Must be able to communicate with a broad range of people at all levels of the organization.
• Minimum 5 years of automotive purchasing experience required.
• Positive, can-do mentality.
• Work location: Blythewood, SC; Jacksonville, NC or Metro-Detroit, MI with ability to travel to our NAO plants.

Education and/or Experience:

• Microsoft Office – Data analysis, modeling / simulations
• Strategic purchasing experience as it relates to supplier relations, sourcing and contract management.
• Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, CPIM or CPM a plus.
• Skilled in negotiations, supplier selection and the development, approval and control of purchases in a decentralized environment.

Travel Requirements:

Travel will be required, mostly domestic.

Physical Requirements:

• Essential physical requirements, such as climbing stairs, standing, stooping, or typing.
• - Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary - up to 10 pounds; light - up to 20 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment.
