Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible to oversee and manage the procurement team and day-today procurement activities. You will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, and stakeholders to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality products and materials while adhering to regulatory requirements. This role will involve strategic planning, supplier relationship and compliance management, contract negotiation, sourcing activities and ensuring optimal inventory levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in new product launch and sourcing activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, Product Management, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, to understand requirements and specifications for medical devices and supplies.
  • Maintain system accuracy and integrity with frequent review of data inputs and workflows.
  • Manage the procurement team and daily procurement tasks. Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company’s medical device and supply needs while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing, favorable payment terms, and secure long-term agreements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and competitive pricing. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and market developments that could impact procurement strategies and supplier capabilities.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier performance to identify potential risks and opportunities. Implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as the procurement lead.
  • Conduct routine supplier performance reviews and address any issues or concerns, such as quality deviations, delivery days, or non-compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Optimize inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing excess inventory and associate costs.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely payment processing, budget control, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as FDA requirements, ISO standards, and other applicable industry guidelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate procurement processes to identify areas for improvement. Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline procurement operations.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
  • High proficiency in MS suite of products, especially Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem- solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and procurement best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of medical device regulations, such as FDA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Utilization of lean supply chain techniques as supermarkets and kanbans
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage contracts and supplier relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute PPV funnels for cost savings.
  • Ability to self-start as well as working in ambiguity.
  • Advanced utilization of MRP, ERP and Kanban systems. QAD, Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) a plus, but not necessary
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Understands the impact of their position on the P&L, with regards to ITO, working capital and PPV
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 7 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; first-level manager.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
The posted range for this position is $83,520 to $146,160 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including education, prior experience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
