JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for negotiating long-term and short-term strategic sourcing streams while achieving year over year cost savings. Responsible for managing sourcing, procurement, and purchasing initiatives that drive savings and process improvements that support Senior's long term operational strategy. The Purchasing Manager will provide tactical, strategic, and functional leadership to all Purchasing activities in Bartlett, IL, and Saltillo, Mexico locations.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
Team Leadership
- Ability to establish policies and procedures for purchasing team members can utilize.
- Evaluate employee performance throughout the year using both informal and formal coaching and evaluation processes.
- Ensure consistency within the department by continually improving processes.
Strategic Purchasing
- Develop sourcing plans in alignment with strategic deployment objectives and customers.
- Monitor the financial performance of quotations versus actual costs.
- Gather and report metrics for legacy product range performance.
- Develop & implement cost reduction projects.
- Create RFQ's and perform quote analysis. Develop supplier evaluation process for Senior. Ensure suppliers are in compliance with responsible sourcing policy.
- Must have established domestic and international supply base of raw materials, tubing, machinists and stampers, etc. to enhance the current approved supplier list.
Project Management
- Ability to manage large scale projects impacting many facets of the business
- Effective self-management skill sets
- Coordinate plant and business objectives through completion
Supply Chain Alignment
- Review and analyze contractual terms and conditions, pricing, logistics, etc. to coincide with business strategy and customer agreements
- Create business alignment within the supply base
- Coordinate with Operations and Business Unit’s to complete quotations to include detailed quotation tracking meeting customer deadlines
Market Awareness
- Self-motivated to assess risks associated with markets.
- Must have sufficient knowledge of the business market. Ability to respond to market conditions
- Lead and prepare Senior Leadership for effects of the market that may impact the business.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field
EXPERIENCE
- Sales quotations and RFQ process experience
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical, and/or metal fabrication industries preferred.
- 7 to 10 years’ experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, and/or Procurement in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills
- ERP and MRP experience, Infor Syteline highly preferred
