JOB SUMMARY

As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in providing procurement functions to help achieve objectives required to aid delivery of a value for money supply base for the organization. The Manager will also play a key role in managing the inventory levels and cost associated with on hand materials and supplies at the Kearneysville location.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

· Manage and coordinate all procurement activities, including maintaining records and working to improve purchasing system and processes.

· Purchases materials and other supplies at the best possible price in accordance with the required quality, quantity, delivery specification, and other requirements.

· Lead purchasing activities to drive quality improvements with suppliers, liaising with the Quality function to identify and implement priorities.

· Play a major role in Site Inventory reviews to determine and manage inventory needs.

· Drive best practices to improve inventory costs and processes by partnering with planning and manufacturing to coordinate daily cycle counts, address discrepancies in the MRP system, manage yearly stock takes, and drive down/disposition obsolescent and slow-moving materials.

· Develop systems and forecast methods to optimise efficiency and aid business performance.

· Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators including On Time deliveries, Defect Rates, Purchase Price Variance, Inventory Levels, Freight Cost, and other related topics.

· Work with SPX Sourcing Team on Group Strategic Sourcing Projects and disseminate information about them throughout the organization.

· Integrate with Product Development, Sales, Finance, and other Operations groups using a cross functional approach to successfully launch new products and serve customer needs.

· Preparing and Managing cost estimate tracker sheets for NPI projects

· Collaborate and participate in MAKE or BUY decisions and facilitate outsourcing activities.

· Identify and mitigate key supply chain risks with focus on Business Continuity Plans

· Establishes and maintains close working relationships with Major Suppliers at Senior and Operational level to gain an in-depth knowledge of their trading conditions.

· Lead Projects to improve Business Performance within Timelines and Defined Parameters

· Investigates alternative suppliers offering equivalent goods on more cost-effective terms.

· Assist Group Supply Chain Manager in achieving the Group KPI and Cost Reduction targets.

· Assist Group Supply Chain Manager with the coordination, hosting, production, distribution, and presentation of the Group Inventory, KPI and monthly purchase meetings and reports.

· Assist Group Supply Chain Manager in achieving Monitoring Group forecasts, safety stocks, IFS Requisitions and consumption.

· Assisting purchasing activities across the rest of the Radiodetection group.

· Other such additional or alternative tasks that may from time to time be reasonably required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

· Strong commercial purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrated negotiating skills.

· Strong Knowledge of supply chain management.

· Thorough knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), preferably IFS.

· Knowledge of Electronic/Mechanical Components and Assemblies.

· Able to interpret Engineering Drawings and Bill of Materials.

· Knowledge of the legal aspects of Purchasing.

· Effective KPI management.

· Understanding of Lean Principles.

· Demonstrate ‘Team Work Ethic’.

· Demonstrated skill in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

· Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

· Relevant academic qualification(s), ideally CIPS or equivalent.
