Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: Rockford
Job Type and Duration:  Permanent
The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies and subcontract work for the organization. This role will implement and continuously improve purchasing procedures and lean principles to achieve best in class supply chain performance in quality, delivery, cost, and inventory.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Formulate, direct, and participate in development and implementation of goals and objectives for the Purchasing Department.
• Implement pull systems in the factory to reduce purchased inventory and optimize incoming material flow.
• Prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures and best practices in the ERP system.
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Support purchasing team hands on and fill any gaps on purchasing execution requirements.
• Develop and maintain an approved supplier list of vendors able to provide best in class quality, delivery, and cost.
• Discuss effective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine root cause and take corrective action.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Monitor and evaluate vendors’ performance to comply with quality system requirements.
• Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and optimize purchase price.

 
Desired Skills and Experience:

• Preferred Certifications include APICS, Lean Green Belt, Project Management Professional.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous management experience a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• 5+ years previous experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Sourcing, or a similar role.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, capital equipment with high mix/low volume a plus.
