THIS ROLE IS REQUIRED TO BE IN-PERSON/ ON-SITE IN THE NAPA/ VALLEJO AREA
The Warehouse Manager’s role requires managing multiple operations, including customer order fulfillment functions, inter-company transfers, and receiving products from international and domestic suppliers. The Warehouse Manager will oversee the efficient receipt and storage of products while ensuring smooth delivery to internal and external customers. To achieve these goals, the Manager will mentor and train the Supervisors and Leads while setting and developing productivity goals for all employees. Additional focus includes cost efficiency, continuous improvement activities, and a high emphasis on employee safety programs.
Major Role & Responsibilities (MRs), Output and Measurement
- Develops and implement warehouse operation system improvements by leading continuous improvement projects identified by team members or the leadership team. Understand the methodology of the 5Y (Five Whys) exercise for identifying the problems.
- This role requires regular presence in the Warehouse and Manufacturing areas.
- Understand warehouse operation and the quality standards for Finished Goods, Raw Materials, and Label storage. While being the management leader in ensuring production and inventory record keeping is done correctly and timely.
- Administer policy and procedures, including regular performance conversations with the team or individual. Formal written performance appraisals are required.
- Work with the Supply Chain Planning and Customer Services groups to understand future warehousing and distribution requirements, focusing on warehouse capacity and outbound shipment requirements. We need to know where we are going in the future and how we will get there.
- Direct and run optimum day-to-day order fulfillment operations that deliver on-time and in-full orders to Manufacturing. Effectively manage the warehouse and its staff and effectively use warehouse space and staff to store efficiently and ship products on time to Manufacturing and our customers.
- Meets financial objectives by contributing to the operational budget development, being aware of expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. Always look to improve costs by searching for new vendors while maintaining the quality of the product.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring employees understand their role. Train employees on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) aligned to the position while complying with any regulatory requirements outlined by GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
- Builds and leads a high-performance team that puts the company's culture into action by improving employee capabilities through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly and administration staff. Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws and regulations.
Skills Required
- Organizational skills must be able to manage multiple priorities.
- Must have attention to detail and good written communication skills.
- Inventory Control background (cycle counting).
- RF / Handheld experience.
- Must be able to work effectively in a multi-tasking work environment.
- 8+ Years of warehouse experience.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Critical thinking skills. Builds a logical approach to address problems or opportunities or manage the situation by drawing on knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources, as necessary.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
Skills Preferred:
- Bilingual/ Spanish
- 10 + years of warehouse experience.
- Current or previous forklift certification.
- RF/handheld experience.
- Operating system and computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of multi-mode loading/unloading operations.
- Knowledge of bin/lot locations and warehouse organization.
- Inventory knowledge.
Education:
- Four years of a university degree or equivalent supply chain experience. (Preferred)
- Minimum eight years in progressive leadership positions in supply chain-related roles.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing work environment – must be able to work in various temperatures and humidity (heat and cold).
- Ability to work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Some lifting and moving product and or equipment (50lbs)
- Requires full-time on-site presence to the Vallejo/ Napa warehouses
- Ability to work extended hours as needed.
