JOB DESCRIPTION
Neidhart Consulting Group is conducting a search for our long term (10years) client (Specialty Granules) to recruit a Site Manager. The newly recruited Site/Project Manager will be provided the opportunity to assume leadership of our Client’s newly acquired operation in south east California. Terms of the purchase have been negotiated, contracts prepared and executed. The closing will take place in July. More information will be provided as mutual interest is validated and, eventually, as an N.D.A. is executed to ensure confidentiality for both the candidate and our Client.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Vice President/Senior Director, Manufacturing, the successful candidate will join an organization of respected and exceptionally talented professionals. The selected Site/Project Manager will manage the P+L, site operations and engineering, including the expansion of the facilities. The scope of proposed responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing the integration of the new company into Specialty Granules.
- Helping to create budgets, capital requests, metrics and operating guidelines.
- Achieving safety, quality, cost and schedule performance goals.
- Maintaining non-union operations.
- Directing a team of production, safety, engineering and support personnel.
- Providing direction to various construction projects as a processing plant and related equipment are designed, constructed, sourced and brought online.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL SETS
- Experienced working with ERP/MRP software platforms. PC literate with the ability to understand, as well as develop spreadsheet models (SAP is optimum). Possesses an excellent understanding of the “numbers” and the impact Operations can have on the Company’s P&L and balance sheet.
- An undergraduate degree in mechanical, industrial/manufacturing engineering, production technology, mining or operations management. An advanced degree (M.B.A. or M.S.) or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Successful background working in non-union and union settings. This position requires someone who is comfortable functioning as a “change agent”, building positive employee relations and developing communication programs across all organization levels.
- Committed to preventive and predictive maintenance activities while building an employee regimen supporting these processes.
- Ideally, five plus (5+) years of experience functioning as Plant Manager, Site Manager or Senior Operations Manager of a business unit leading all production and related engineering activities. Manufacturing industry sectors of interest encompass: cement, lime, ceramics, sand, aggregate, tile or brick.
- Outstanding communication skills coupled with the ability to make presentations to staff and Headquarters executives. Capable of building strong working relationships with peers, subordinates, suppliers, customers, etc.
- Successful track record of implementing continuous improvement programs, monitoring and evaluating changes. The successful executive must know how to determine the status of activities, identify problems, as well as develop “work around” and corrective action plans quickly.
