Summary:
A growing, multi-strategy investment firm based out of San Francisco, California is seeking a Vice President of Investments. The team strives to create impact through investments across the technology sector. The firm is comprised of a small team of accomplished investors with a mandate to invest in buyout, growth, and private credit in tech businesses globally.
The Vice President will be involved in the investment side of the credit and growth equity business. The ideal candidate will be capable of applying the fundamentals of an investment banking, research, or asset management background to investing in the private credit and growth equity asset class. This investment professional will support the team’s efforts related to new investment activities and monitoring and analysis for existing private funds. Ideal candidate should be a senior associate/VP at an investment firm or other financial services firm.
Responsibilities:
· Originate, source, and evaluate potential new investments across the technology sector
· Provide quality input and feedback on new deal opportunities to the senior team members; participate in investment committee meetings
· Play a lead role in the sourcing and deal execution process in support of an investment decision including managing external providers and identifying key threshold issues performing financial and operational analyses to investigate those issues
· Lead the development of investment committee communications/memos and actively participate in the investment committee discussions.
· Build relationships & work with portfolio company management to monitor performance, develop & execute growth strategies during firm’s hold period
Qualifications:
· B.A. degree in Finance & Accounting/Business/Economics, or a related field.
· 6+ years transaction buy-side experience at a lower middle market or middle market private credit firm
· Strong quantitative & analytical skills
· Project management experience
· Previous middle market private credit experience specifically
· Work with investment team to source private transactions
· Develop and maintain relationships with founders and intermediaries
· Participate in due diligence on transactions
· Examine the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions
· Develop financial and operating models as well as performing financial analysis of companies and assets
· Working within a team assisting them in preparing investment memos and data rooms
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (face-to-face, telephone, and written communication)
· Industry knowledge and understanding of industry-wide financial benchmarking
· Desire to work hard and do timely and excellent work
· Superior attention to detail
· Personality, charisma, energy; ability to interact with variety of “clients” – people within the firm, investors, CEOs/CFOs of our companies, etc.
