Job Description
The Corporate Treasury Department has broad oversight of the capital structure and management of financial risk for The Walt Disney Company, including overseeing the Company’s banking relationships and executing financings, managing foreign exchange risk, and responsibility for $25 billion of assets under management for the pension and 401(k) plans.


Corporate Finance / Capital Markets


  • Oversee day-to-day liquidity planning and execute funding in the debt capital markets; issued $30 billion of bonds and nearly $15 billion of interest rate derivatives over the last five years
  • Manage refinancings for revolving credit facilities totaling $12.25 billion with over 30 banks
  • Oversee the Company’s capital structure and manage Disney’s banking and rating agency relationships; structure, negotiate and execute financings to support strategic initiatives
  • Arrange M&A financing as needed (e.g., $36 billion cash consideration for 21st Century Fox acquisition)


Pension & Investments


  • Prepare presentations and participate in quarterly Investment & Administrative Committee (IAC) meetings with senior management (including the Treasurer, CFO, General Counsel and Chief Human Resources Officer)
  • Close monitoring of financial markets and fund / manager performance
  • Asset allocation and selection of investment fund managers and vehicles across asset classes, including equities, fixed income and alternatives (private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds, etc.)
  • Oversee $25 billion of retirement plan assets encompassing both defined benefit (pension) and defined contribution (401(k)) plans


International Treasury / Foreign Exchange Risk Management


  • Responsible for managing global foreign currency risk, international liquidity and repatriation efforts, international financing needs and support for international investments
  • Recently developed a currency risk management program for the construction and acquisition of three new cruise ships


Responsibilities:


The Manager will be an integral member of the Corporate Treasury team and will initially focus primarily on Corporate Finance, while also gaining exposure to Pension & Investments and International Treasury on ad-hoc projects. The Manager will have responsibility for driving major financing activities to support strategic initiatives and growth across the Company and will prepare financial analyses and presentation materials for senior management, including the Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Board of Directors and business unit leadership. The Manager will also work closely and build relationships with our financial planning, investor relations, tax, legal, and accounting groups and will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with senior professionals across many of the top investment banks globally (as well as our credit rating agencies).


Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated interest in global financial markets
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and effective communication skills
  • At least three years of relevant work experience, preferably in a finance, business or investment function / capacity
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter with ability to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment


Education:


  • MBA or CFA preferred
  • BA or BS from top-tier school


The hiring range for this position in California is $135,000.00 to $165,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
