Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven VP/Director of Mortgage to join our vertically integrated, tech-enabled, rapidly growing (400% yoy), real estate start-up. As a key leader in our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing and scaling our mortgage operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing a sales team, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage operations, processing and compliance across multiple states as well as the ability to manage a high performing sales team.


This role will report directly into the COO and will be a key part of the leadership team of the parent company.


Responsibilities:


  • Foster strong relationships with industry partners, lenders, and other stakeholders.
  • Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing sales team.
  • Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and meetings to build brand awareness and enhance reputation.
  • Compliance Management:
  • Develop and maintain robust compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor sales activities, track performance metrics, and implement strategies to drive results.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Strategy and Planning:
  • Establish processes and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Develop and execute strategies to scale mortgage operations and drive business growth.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations and proactively implement necessary changes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to mortgage lending.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and optimize resources.
  • Collaborate with external parties to expand business opportunities, secure partnerships, and drive revenue growth.
  • Set clear sales targets, objectives, and performance goals for the team.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards and mitigate risks.
  • Scaling Mortgage Operations:
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new markets and oversee successful implementation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and business plans.
  • Sales Team Management:


Requirements:


  • Proven track record of successfully operating mortgage companies in multiple states.
  • Knowledge of in-house lender operations is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements and regulations related to mortgage lending.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Finance, Business, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience in managing and motivating a sales team to achieve targets and drive business growth.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of management experience in the mortgage industry, with a focus on scaling operations and managing teams.
