We are seeking a Vice President Global Maritime Technology Systems (GMTS) to dually report to the Chief Maritime Officer and the Corporate CIO. They will be responsible for the oversight and management of global maritime IT systems, applications, networks, and data for all nine brands and operating companies. This role will support and provide guidance on the implementation and execution of the Global Maritime Technology Program in alignment with the priorities and strategies of both the Chief Maritime Officer and the Corporate CIO. The VP, GMTS will lead the development of a vision and strategy for Global Maritime IT; working collaboratively across global stakeholders to reach consensus on a clearly defined, prioritized roadmap. The role will be responsible for ensuring IT and Operational Technology (OT) teams are fully aligned on the investment direction at both the global and individual brand levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- 25-50% shipboard travel likely
- Partner with data analytics teams across the Organization to ensure that maritime systems are aligned to global data initiatives
- In addition, the VP GMTS will be lead and execute a strategy that will prioritize the following:
- Standardization of maritime IT applications that do not provide brand differentiation
- Delivery of maritime technology services for cross-brand consumption
- Driving maritime architecture and technology guidance for company wide topics
- Drive a collaborative culture across the Maritime and IT teams to develop and lead the critical global (maritime) IT systems strategy that keep our ships sailing safely and in compliance around the world
- Support the Chief Information Officer as needed, contributing to the Corporation’s HESS & Sustainability goals
- Frequently interact with, and educate, Brand IT leadership teams on current issues and overall status of the global maritime technology programs and initiatives
- Responsible for government and compliance regulations related to Maritime IT and ensuring that the organization is operating with the legal and ethical boundaries while meeting strategic business goals
- Driving maritime architecture and technology guidance for company wide topics
- Relationship Management:
- Drive a collaborative culture across the Maritime and IT teams to develop and lead the critical global (maritime) IT systems strategy that keep our ships sailing safely and in compliance around the world
- Build relationships and engage frequently with the Chief Maritime Officer, the Senior Maritime Representatives of all nine brands and Brand IT Executives to ensure their maritime IT needs are being met
- Frequently interact with, and educate, Brand IT leadership teams on current issues and overall status of the global maritime technology programs and initiatives
- Work collaboratively across the Global Maritime and IT organizations to address and lead maritime IT/OT issues affecting all brands and operating companies

- Leverage the Corporation’s global scale to ensure maritime IT investments are being made as efficiently as possible across as many brands as possible

- In addition, the VP GMTS will be lead and execute a strategy that will prioritize the following:
- Standardization of maritime IT applications that do not provide brand differentiation
- Delivery of maritime technology services for cross-brand consumption
- Driving maritime architecture and technology guidance for company wide topics
- Leverage the Corporation’s global scale to ensure maritime IT investments are being made as efficiently as possible across as many brands as possible
- Ensure all maritime IT projects / programs are undertaken in conjunction with the Corporation’s cyber security experts and in compliance with all policies, procedures, and best practices
- Responsible for ensuring that the global IT Maritime Tech investments align to the strategic goals and financial objectives which includes managing the Maritime IT plan and capital expenditures
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of ten years shore-based experience of marine operations and marine systems (including but not limited to Fleet Operations Center systems, Navigation & Automation systems, Training and Compliance systems)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating with senior leadership, the business community, and all levels of IT
- Strong ability to give direction, identify the path and troubleshoot security risk and compliance problems
- Desire and ability to drive and lead conversations and coordinate efforts and resources among different parties
- Experience of leading and chairing working groups in a relevant discipline
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in leading large complex technology projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Operations, Computer Technology or Business Administration (or similar)
- Experience of IMO / other significant maritime standards bodies
- Strong track record of overseeing deployment and adoption of maritime systems within the shipboard and shoreside environments
- Minimum five years seagoing experience as a deck or engineering officer; cruise ships would be an advantage
- Minimum five years’ experience presenting at Board level on a regular basis
- Demonstrated experience on creating strategy and working across boundaries to improve the technology-driven business objectives for the organization
- Strong ability to think strategically and be innovative; focusing on the at big pictures, connecting the dots and resulting in technology solutions that balance business exigencies with technology risks
- Be a quick learner and adapter and be willing to challenge oneself demonstrating ability to pivot strategy and direction as new information becomes available
- Be willing to take calculated risks and step up and take initiative
- Experience of leading and engaging with the maritime systems vendor segment; including leading and implementing global agreements

The range for this role’s base salary is $250,000 - $280,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
