About the Role:

Everest is seeking a VP, Global Data & Analytics Leader to lead the Everest Information Technology Data & Analytics department, located at the US headquarters in Warren, New Jersey or our Hartford, Connecticut offices.

This role will be responsible for leading the IT Data & Analytics Department across Everest. The desired candidate will have an established track record of building high-quality enterprise solutions, be results-driven and bring strong Data Engineering and technology skills and a deep understanding of modern technologies including Software and Data Engineering Capability Development, Cloud Engineering Standards & Practices, Modern Security and IAM concepts. Successful candidates must have worked extensively in a major cloud environment (Azure, AWS or GCP) and have an excellent understanding of cloud concepts. The candidate must possess strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, communications skills, and demonstrated great problem-solving ability.

Additionally, this role will be a significant contributor to our enterprise Data & Analytics Strategy including definition, implementation and modernization of the our technology capabilities. The role will have significant input into the overall technology strategy and road-map for Everest. This highly visible role that has extensive contact with other technology departments, external vendors, suppliers and business partners.
The roles primary responsibilities include:
  • Support the development of engineering capabilities that promotes sharing, inner sourcing and reuse of code, capabilities and methods in a cloud-first environment that leverages highly automated DevOps tools and capabilities
  • Optimize talent strategy to ensure proper mix of resources and attract and retain best talent.
  • Maintain key relationships across the enterprise spanning Technology and Business functions
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to design, support and deliver against Data & Analytics priorities and Everest strategic objectives.
  • Work with business and technology teams to align on strategy, prioritize work, and design solutions.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to help drive a common strategic technology vision aligned with business strategy and objectives.
  • Gathering client feedback to help shape and influence our technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Understand customers’ overall data and application landscape, priorities and success measures to design implementation architectures and solutions.
  • Work with the Senior leadership within Technology and Business to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives
  • Provide subject-matter expertise across Data & Analytics topics including Data Engineering Standards and Best Practices.
  • Develop and lead the execution of the data and analytics technology strategies and roadmaps to optimize rapid delivery of information management capabilities, while aligning to established technology and architecture standards
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive communications to convey architectural direction and how it aligns with enterprise strategy.
  • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with key technology vendors that support Insurance and Reinsurance platforms.
  • Guide Agile Value Steams, Trains and Teams on technology strategy related to the develop of platform designs and solution roadmaps.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams to increase skill levels and drive quality.
  • Influence strategic decisions and priorities related to Data & Analytics solutions and remove impediments to delivering value.
  • Ensure the solutions that are delivered meet high standards for quality, performance, and scale.
  • Measuring performance through established objectives and metrics that deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results.
  • Provide senior level oversight for technology initiatives and acts as an escalation point for complex technology matters and roadblocks.
  • Provide leadership across the enterprise to drive new technology and advancements into production.
  • Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt.
  • Manage the engagement / coordination across delivery teams to ensure high quality project delivery within scope, timeframe, and budgets
  • Drive the delivery of an exceptional customer/partner experience through ready access to data and intuitive self-service capabilities that ensures the security, integrity and quality of data while enabling the agility and performance of a scaled ecosystem.
  • Look for opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends while assessing potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Drive and accelerate data and analytics transformation and cloud adoption while being a champion of security, standards, governance, and best practices with a focus on data quality and integrity
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
  • 15+ years of overall technology experience in strategy, architecture, engineering, and implementing technology solutions and services
  • Strong understanding of IT environments, technologies in relation to business needs
  • Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to tailor communication to all levels of an organization
  • Comfortable working in a flat lean organization which requires rolling up the sleeves and getting into the details
  • Open-minded with proven ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment
  • Deep experience leading data and analytics organizations within a complex multi-national organization.
  • Hands-on knowledge of current technology standards/trends coupled with a desire to continually expand personal knowledge/skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other business and technology leaders
  • Domain knowledge of the Insurance Industry (preferably P&C) and value chain as well as the technologies and solutions relevant to this industry is desired
  • Display strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principals and technology modernization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority
  • Experience with APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code and Containers
  • Working Knowledge of Data Streaming or similar capabilities such as Kafka, Kinesis, etc.
  • Experience executing technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud native and API Strategies
  • 15+ years of Data Engineering and Analytics experience including engineering practices, tools and standards
  • Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration
  • Strong knowledge and experience with modern Data & Analytics platforms including Data Lake, Data Bricks, ML Ops, AI and ML capabilities
  • 10+ years of successful technology leadership experience at an enterprise level within a company or as a consultant
  • Proven history of successfully delivering data and analytics projects on time, on budget with high quality.
  • Ability and interest in mentoring technical staff and raising our collective technical competencies
  • Builds strong partnership with engineering teams to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction
  • Bachelor's Degree (required) or Master's Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Senior level experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams.
  • An inspirational leader skilled at developing others while modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Recent experience working in a Scaled Agile environment with Agile tools, e.g. Jira, Confluence, etc.
