We are now looking for a Vice President, Communications (Interim). You’ll be responsible for leading our external and internal communications in the US. You’ll work with our editorial and business teams in the US, as well as our global communications team in London. The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications leader with a background in public relations at a media company.

Terms and Conditions: Part Time, 25 hours per week, Minimum 3 month commitment required
Hybrid/Remote/In-Person: Hybrid, 2 partial days per week in our New York office as well as partial days working remotely. Flexibility on days worked during the week.
Salary range: $15,000-$17,000 monthly
About the role
- Lead a strategic communications plan to advance The Guardian’s brand identity in the US; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.
- Serve as the US lead for our global communications group, working closely with the global team to develop and implement communications in the US.
- Develop and implement a plan to increase daily editorial promotion. Work with our reporters and editors to identify new opportunities to place our journalists in key media outlets. Build relationships with media organizations and successfully place our journalists in video, audio, and written opportunities.
- Work with our newsroom, business team, and human resources team to develop and implement communications strategies and initiatives.
- Implement company-wide communications plans, including internal executive communications, internal events, and other internal communications.
About you
- A minimum of 10 years of communications experience at a media company
- Relationships with key media outlets that align with the Guardian’s strategy and key editorial coverage areas
- Expertise in developing and executing strategic communications plans both externally and internally
- Track record of successfully placing journalists in media opportunities as experts in their fields and to highlight their journalism
- Demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams
