Reporting to Chief Commercial Officer the VP of Strategic Marketing, Packaging will have overall global responsibility for strategic marketing, selling and account management of the Packaging market segment. This will include developing and implementing a strategic go-to-market approach and selling strategies. It will also include developing, coaching, and mentoring a highly competent sales, product development, and marketing organization that can help drive the significant growth potential of this market space.
This role will direct the development and transformation of strategic sales, product development, marketing activities and distribution plans to achieve and surpass sales and profit objectives for the company. They will ensure that the matrixed organization is given every possible opportunity to reach and surpass the goals set by senior management, by coordinating sales efforts. The individual in this role also serves on the leadership team of the organization’s commercial team and therefore will also need to lead and influence other key departments in the organization (operations, finance/supply chain, human resources, legal, and other constituencies), which do not report directly to the market segment leader. This individual will also be involved in defining the strategy for the business.
This position will have significant customer and market interface and will align company resources to support and satisfy customer requirements at an unparalleled level in our industry. Additionally, this person will direct and deploy resources necessary to achieve success in new markets and applications.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Take a lead role in developing and delivering solution application presentations to new and existing clients and spending appropriate time in the field supporting sales representatives.
- Define and lead a go to market strategy that addresses sales and marketing challenges and opportunities.
- Defining and driving campaigns to expand lead generation activities.
- Develop and maintain an aggressive organization of quality people, fostering a collaborative success-oriented environment where employees are empowered and accountable.
- Provide leadership, guidance and direction to their business unit and the organization as a whole.
- Develop the group’s short- and long-term selling strategy for its various business unit products and market applications
- Effectively lead the Diagnostics Strategic Marketing team by providing necessary market analysis, selling tools, product knowledge, and communication campaigns.
- Develop a thorough understanding of market potential, influences, and the competition, ensuring that selling strategies are creative, effective, and designed to leverage higher margin marketplaces.
- Further develop current customer base, while balancing those relationships with new initiatives directed at new customers and market segments.
- Provide leadership to the Product Development team to ensure that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently
- Work with the Product Development team and the Corporate R&D organization to ensure that ideas for potential product applications are being pursued, while also providing market feedback on potential new applications.
- Responsible for training and development initiatives
EDUCATION:
· An undergraduate degree is required, with a preference for a scientific degree, MBA is a plus.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Previous experience with P&L responsibility is required.
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate ability to develop and implement innovative sales initiatives, particularly those involving new applications of products or technology.
- At least 10-15+ yrs years of business leadership experience, with emphasis on business development solutions, and selling/marketing in the Packaging Industry.
- Experience driving successful programs and strategies for developing new customers and expanding business with existing customers.
- Demonstrable experience leading change within an organization.
