We are seeking a Vice President of Marketing to join our team, as we enter an exciting new phase of growth in capabilities, projects, and creative excellence.
The VP of Marketing leads a team of managers and creative staff to plan and implement a strategic, integrated marketing approach across all company initiatives, campaigns, and projects. This person strategically aligns campaigns and programs; integrates the marketing communications, public relations, creative strategy and execution, events, and brand management.
As the VP of Marketing, you and a team of copywriters, designers, developers, and vendor partners will create all our direct response acquisition marketing, brand marketing campaigns, customer journey touch points, promotions, and events. In addition to working with your immediate team, you will also be working across disciplines and departments within the company.
You will also be hands-on in the execution of creative projects and strategic initiatives from the executive team. You should have a clear understanding of how a customer moves through a buying process and be familiar with both direct response and branded content marketing. You will report directly to the SVP of Marketing and assist in bringing the brand to life to drive customer acquisition, retention, and growth.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, practical visionary with an extensive marketing background with an emphasis on the creative side (writing and design), who can lead a team to generate results-driven ideas and execute flawlessly, meticulously, and on schedule.
We are a small, fast-paced in-house marketing and creative team who takes responsibility and ownership in creating high caliber creative across a variety of marketing mediums. We do everything from print to broadcast television to digital to anything in between in support of our brand.
This position will be onsite in Austin, TX
What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities):
- Assist the SVP of Marketing to help oversee company creative and brand goals from a strategic level and ensure these goals continuously align with business objectives
- Develops and manages the annual marketing operating plan and budget, captures program expenses and ROI and ensures budget performance and management
- Creates and manages standardized marketing and communication processes, including operating procedures and quality assurance
- Review marketing performance data and extract creative decisions
- Manages all Marketing Planning and Project Management team members and day-to-day operations related to marketing strategy development, planning and project management
- Maintains a deep understanding of marketing trends, utilizes a research¬ based approach to identify key messages and audiences, creating a consistent, unified message
- Determines best practices for oversight of marketing strategy development, planning and project management, including evaluation and implementation of process changes as necessary
- Take a hands-on role at every step in the creative process. Be a player-coach from strategy and vision through execution
- Collaborates with the Creative Team, business owners and stakeholders to develop and implement the marketing strategy
- Understand the entire customer journey, inclusive of all experiences and touchpoints
- Maintain effective and open communication with other senior leaders throughout the organization
- Present overall strategy and your work effectively, articulately communicating design rationale to teams and overall stakeholders within the organization
- Be responsible for all needs of the marketing department across a range of deliverables in a way that is both visually interesting, on brand, and focused on performance marketing
- Lead the creative team with a focus on direct-response marketing driven creative development (includes writers, designers, developers); explore/lead traditional and non traditional tactics, including educational platforms with webinars, seminars, and beyond.
- Motivate and empower designers and copywriters on the team at all levels by providing resources, feedback and inspiration to help streamline and elevate the work of those around you and be open to the ways they can do the same for you
- Leverages key partnerships to support marketing plans, communicate messaging, drive growth, and engage constituents
- Leads marketing strategy, planning and project management of marketing activities across organizational objectives and for cross-functional initiatives to accomplish the strategic priorities, mission and vision of the organization
- Give specific direction to each team member that ensures a cohesive output and inspires each team member to deliver their best possible work
What Do You Need to Apply? (Requirements)
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, or communications
- Proven experience in Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven results from strategic marketing campaigns or initiatives from concepting to tracking success
- Comfortable navigating a team through the ambiguous project and design process.
- Experience in organization, prioritization, and fulfillment of a creative roadmap
- Strong idea generator, ability to think creatively and innovatively
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including roles as a VP of Marketing or Marketing Director (agency or client-side)
- Well organized, ability to manage multiple tasks on tight deadlines with a great attention to detail
- Experience in creative direction, working in Adobe suite
- Takes ownership and initiative
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic corporate environment
- Strong problem solving, priority-setting and decision-making skills
- 8+ years of experience managing creative teams of 5 or more, being hands on and a manager demonstrating thought leadership on all forms of marketing across a full range of projects, tight deadlines, and a high volume of work
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written, presentation, and meeting facilitation in both individual and group settings
- Exceptional visual design skills (layout + typography + color) and total attention to detail
